PC updates
LDE was previewed but no vote held yet.
Lisa is excited for her role with us and we’re excited to have her!

  1. Brainstorm the Outline for “learning to swim” guide.

    1. Don’t recreate the wheel! Leverage other Wiki pages that are maintained.

    2. Tara provided a good template we can use and modify to focus on Public Libraries exploring the FOLIO community.

    3. Reference Support SIG for “how to” on JIRA submission.

  2. FAQs

    1. Answers can be provided by anyone! Leave questions open even without an answer and perhaps someone can fill that in (or raise it as a concern to other SIGs).

    2. Answers can be opinionated or controversial; when providing answers, tag yourself or you institution in your answer. E.g. (Tara Barnett, Index Data, DATE)

    3. Other questions (have been added to FAQ):

      • How do you print spine labels in FOLIO?

      • Does FOLIO have Title Level Requests

      • Does FOLIO allow parents to monitor what their kids do? (Family groups?)

      • Does FOLIO allow email, text, and phone notices?

      • Does FOLIO have floating collection functionality?

      • How does Reporting work in FOLIO?

      • How does Shelf Reading work in FOLIO?

      • Acquistion workflows

  3. “Inbox” or “Implementers Topics” (TARA)
Find an efficient way to track concerns brought up in SIG meetings.
Proposal from Tara: List of things people want brought to the SIG for discussion.
Create an intake page. If a topic is on this page, it will be discussed in one of our upcoming meetings.
    Once discussed:
    Document the discussion.
Provide an answer or redirect the discussion/person to another SIG or JIRA (if necessary).
Watch the topic (it's already in JIRA).
    Create a JIRA.

  4. Label and Dashboard (ok?) (TARA)
Love it! Adding it to the “About” page.

 Other topics:

  • SIP
Who is responsible for the “standardization” of SIP message fields?
Tara provided this document/page about what SIP messages are supported.
GitHub - folio-org/edge-sip2: 3M Standard Interchange Protocol (SIP) support in FOLIO
    Added to FAQ page.
Joey asked if there were any SIP exchange message examples - does this exist?

This was a good example of how the “Inbox” of discussion items can be used to track topics and do our best not to let things fall off the radar.

Discussed how this SIG should represent an intentional needs-analysis of Public Libraries to the FOLIO community. Actual Cost being a deal-breaker for any public institution adopting the product. This would be a good example of a discussed topic to bring to PC.

Notable Areas of Interest Update

  • Added our Label Dashboard to the “Area of Interest” page on the About page!

For next meeting

Agenda Ideas:
Review the Inbox of topic brought to the SIG.
Review the learning to swim guide

Follow-up:
Topic 5.

Action Items
