How does the RM group fit in with the other prioritized SIGs, particularly Metadata Management?
- Charlotte confirmed that RM was not listed as a prioritized SIG because it already exists, not because it isn't needed.
- The group also discussed the differences between resource management and metadata management.
- We see resource management as focusing on business operations, acquisitions, budget management, inventory management, and a data model to support these functions.
- Metadata management will be more focused on bibliographic metadata, metadata storage, authorities, and items/statuses/locations.
- The RM group will work on writing a charge to codify its purpose.
Discussion of HBZ/GBV requirements catalog
- Martina provided some background about the requirements catalog.
- It was created by the two German library consortia.
- The goal is to provide a checklist of required functionality for evaluating library systems.
- The report is structured as a hierarchy: chapter>subchapter>criteria>requirement.
- Each requirement is given a priority according to the MoSCoW method.
- The group agreed that we should review and discuss further.
- Jacob also wants to ensure that our discussion covers selection and evaluation.
- The group will review and comment in the Google Docs version of the requirements catalog.
- We will plan to return to this discussion on Nov. 18.
