25 minPresentation of the new UX prototype setupFilip Jakobsen

A new, coherent prototype for FOLIO and all its apps and features

Filip demonstrated the "next generation" of the UX prototypes that are being worked on. That prototype can be viewed here:

http://ux.folio.org/prototype/.

  • Prototypes and demos for different apps are available on this version. (To view the demo, click the "Watch Demo" link located at the bottom of the screen.)
  • Older versions of UX iterations will be preserved and viewable. The default view will be the latest view.
  • For complex apps with complex features there may be several demo videos
  • The bottom "toolbar" also includes a Comment button. This takes the user to the FOLIO Project discussion forum to context sensitive commentary.
  • This structure of commenting on features and versions allows for an asynchronous discussion, which makes the project more internationally inclusive.
  • Starting to put out multi-lingual features in the prototype.

Comments:

  • Jacquie_Dracine in the Chat: "Announcing a detailed agenda ahead of an upcoming meeting would facilitate inviting the appropriate staff. More than 1 day's notice is preferred."
  • Paul expressed concern that the prototype discussion may get too detailed. Filip said that the presentation of a coherent system, will give viewers "the big picture." Filip also stated that the designer managing the dialogue is tasked with not letting the discussion to get off track.
  • Anne-Marie asked about the icons shown at the top of the prototype, and whether or not they are configurable. Filip said that they are configurable so the most used ones can be displayed. The ability to set up preferences will be developed. Sebastian added a comment about keyboard shortcuts. Filip confirmed they are planned to be programmed into the interface.

Filip encouraged the use of the Comment feature so ideas are recorded in one central place.
