Jana and Cornelia are working on onboarding documentation for the SIG. They will schedule a future meeting to focus on welcoming new members to the SIG and answering questions. Let either of them know if you have suggestions for what should be included in onboarding information.
Open Discussion Round Topics
Concerns expressed on the ability to see the time of day when people are working/updating records. Is anyone using shared users to maintain anonymity of when individuals are working? Most are using individual users but might consider group user accounts for student assistants. Security concerns about shared accounts. Accountability and tracking problems are harder with shared accounts. When a user is deleted, the log records unknown.
Laurence considering writing up user stories for - UXPROD-1353Getting issue details... STATUS Do people want a pop-up for special location? yes, the same in-transit modal should be possible but doesn't go in-transit. An option to print a slip would still be possible.
Erin introduced - UXPROD-4054Getting issue details... STATUS . Came up in CDL. Allows you to designate that a location is closed to patrons. Setting would default to open to users. Closed stacks or locked stacks might use this function. CDL could also take advantage of this to restrict lending. Not currently influencing request functionality.
Jana's library has the capability to check out material for in-house use to patrons, essentially reading room management. One possibility is creating a new request type that doesn’t close when an item is checked out, and has to be closed on check-in if the patron is done and it’s going back to it’s home location.
Cornelia suggested a future topic of how recalls are used in your library. How does it work in the discovery system? If someone would be willing to show how this works in your library, that would be appreciated. Susan is willing to show recalls and pages using EDS. Brooks will also be able to show something. Schedule for February 27th.
