Discuss option for notices for actioning on automated fees/fines:
What I need from the SIG:
Critical questions and comments 😊
“Automated” fee/fines are generated as a consequence of a circ rule. How important is it, that the content of action notices (pay, waive, refund, transfer) be determined/segregated by a circ rule? Or can the content be the same for a single f/f type (e.g. “Lost item fee (actual cost)”) regardless of the circ rule that generated that fee (and sent the charge notice)?
The purpose is: Be able to send a notice for what is currently called an automated fee/fine (overdue, lost item set cost, lost item actual cost, processing fee) – i.e. the rules of which are determined in the circ rule.
The content is:
Add a new trigger to the notice policy (“Lost item fee(s) action (pay, waive, or transfer)” – so that you can tell FOLIO which template to use, when you action upon.
Update the fee/fine modal to add the checkbox (a different modal for each action…)
Add business logic to send the notice, if the check-box is selected.
Questions:
I am writing stories to update the fee/fine modal to show this “Notify patron” – for every permutation, and this is annoying…
Separate the work of updating the modals vs. there are now templates to send?
Have “Notify patron” always there, but if there is no template, do not show these options? – but isn’t that already the case…? @Dev Teams.
Would FOLIO be able to figure this out, if the template has to be figured out from the circ rule?
Is my idea, where to configure which template the send for actioning on “automated” f/f (i.e. in the notice policy), the right one? I.e. if sending these notices is a “manual” action, shouldn’t they be storied with the other manual f/f notices?
Have “manual actions” below, instead, for the “automated fee/fines”? Or add a new section on the left?
But this would mean the notices are no longer tied to a circ rule… Is that a problem?
