When Filip completes , we should have the details of his thoughts on this. I have linked this as blocked by that.

Yes, that would be better.

... Although what that concept has to do with breadcrumbs, I have no idea!

Charlotte Whitt August 18, 2017 at 11:42 AM

Agree breadcrumbs is not precise enough, when there are three types of Breadcrumb Navigation:

  1. Path Breadcrumbs: Dynamic breadcrumbs that reveal the path the user took to arrive at a given page.

  2. Location Breadcrumbs: Static breadcrumbs that show a given website's hierarchy relative to where that website page is located.

  3. Attribute Breadcrumbs: Breadcrumbs that provide information that categorizes the current website page.

Location Breadcrumbs would be a more precise word in this context

Mike Taylor August 18, 2017 at 11:12 AM

That's fine.

BTW., we have to stop calling the "breadcrumbs" by the misleading name "breadcrumbs". As per Hansen and Gretel, breadcrumbs tell you where you have been so you can go back there – a stupid concept, if you're using a browser with a Back button. What we need here, and I believe what Filip intends, is something telling you where you are within the site hierarchy. Much more useful, but not "breadcrumbs"!

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the discussion you had with Filip when solving STCOR-45. I can see that he plans to solve the navigation problem by adding bread crumbs. As it is now, it's not logic, but with his refined design, I believe this will be solved.

I have changed the status of this bug to 'Draft', and then we can always get back to this at a later time.
