Subgroup updates | Batch Loader (Ann-Marie reported) - Work is going well. Screens look good. Discussions surrounding the log that review the process occurred today. The developers have started a first pass of thef first part of a load process. Ann-Marie is reviewing that with the developers. They have evaluation mod-data-loader. They requested sample files, which were provided promptly by the sub-group. These are in the sub groups Google drive folders Analytics/Bound-with (Charlotte reported) - Group met today with Filip to improve the UI. A follow up meeting is planned for next Tuesday where examples from Chicago and others will be viewed. MARCCat (Tiziana reported) - Stated this is the only group starting from something already in existence. This causes difficulty in bridging the divide between the existing product and the existent product being developed. Tiziana reassured the group that the intention of @Cult is to satisfy the FOLIO users and FOLIO requirements, not just retain WeCat's functionality. @Cult has accepted the help of Filip to help with this work. | |
MarcCat workflow demo | cataloging workflow demo and opportunity to provide input on use cases, marc editing requirements Notes: Two use-cases that demo cataloging using OCLC's Connexion (Lisa McColl) Constant data in OCLC used to populate 590 which impacts discovery (VuFind) Distinction between OCLC Connexion and OCLC WorldShare Metadata Services – in cataloging by "OCLC" we usually mean Connexion (or Record Manager), i.e. the MARC records Another reason for using OCLC: built in LC Name and Subject Authority FileFiles Need to be able to bring records into MarcCat from OCLC and push records from MarcCat into OCLC Need to document pathways between OCLC & other systems (paper?) *screen capture of WorldCat Search/filters Note: none of us want the LDR/008 combined display that is in Connexion, we want real MARC – nice to have concise display option along with possibility to expand and see each position with drop-down values OCLC Macros: basically static (dynamic) Controlling headings – i.e. linking field in bib record to authority record; does not happen automatically, only works when there is an existing authority record Enter diacritics – clunky, not what we want Transliteration function very useful We'll continue demo/discussion of OCLC Connexion features in the MarcCat subgroup meeting on Monday |
