CornellGary BranchSome of you expressed interest in my use of the OCLC Search API. The specification for my print record upgrading which we use for lower level records is at this link, https://confluence.cornell.edu/x/CQEYF . There is an attachment which indicates the rule hierarchy where whatever return record(s) matches the highest rule is the one used to replace the existing record in the database. This is the most restrictive set of rules in the scripts using the Search API. It forces a date match in the 008 field and compares the first 25 characters that are not spaces, punctuation, or diacritics. This requires whoever is processing the material in the department to accurately transcribe titles in order to find a match. I'm available for further discussions of this or my other uses of the Search API.
