wrt the user settings, would this be a new entry under "General" or a new section. If the former, I'm assuming the label "User fields for search results" would be sufficient for this one?
And just to confirm, with the list, we must prevent more than 6 being selected? Nothing indicating order of field display within the drop-down menu?
One last question, not sure if you were planning to create stories or not. Either way, please let us know.

Current situation or problem:
Currently, only 6 data elements are available to display in the User search results,
Name
Active
Barcode
Patron group
Username
Email
Under the action menu there is a checkbox menu to display some or all of these columns, except the name, which appears by default.
Library users would like to able to configure additional columns that could display, such as birthdate, expiration date, external system ID, etc.
The selection of fields to display could take place in a configuration menu in the User settings. The selected configured fields could populate the selection of fields to display that is currently in the action menu.
Use case(s)
Given I am a library administrator with proper permissions, and I am limited by space to displaying 6 fields in the User search results display,
When I am logged into the User Settings, I am given a menu of 10 fields to choose from, e.g.
Name
Active
Barcode
Patron group
Username
Email
Birth date
External System ID
Expiration date
Mobile phone
Department
Expected result: When I select my 6 fields, the names of the optional fields populate into the actions menu:
e.g.
Active
Barcode
Email
Mobile phone
Birthday
Expiration date
