Make it more clear which fields are being search in a User search - DRAFT

Description

Purpose: When entering a search in the Users box, there's no indication of which field(s) the user is searching. There needs to be.

As a staff person
I want to know which fields are being searched when I enter data in the Users search box
So that I understand better how to construct searches

Scenarios

Looked at by UM SIG 05-03-2025. This is still desired but how we would like to implement is unclear. We are looking at either adding Username and Custom Fields to the keyword search description or adding an information icon next to the search bar to clarify which fields are being searched.

Ticket to be reviewed soon by UM SIG for relevance. Notes

  • Currently the keyword search covers:

    • Username

    • First name

    • Last name

    • Preferred first name

    • Middle name

    • Email

    • Barcode

    • Id (is this UUID?)

    • External system ID

    • Custom fields (Uncertain if this is only free-text fields or if radio buttons, multiselects, single selects etc. also included)

  • The current keyword search description lists:

    • Name

    • Email

    • Identifier
