Settings > Tenant > Locations setup > Locations. Enable and Display floating collection

Description

Purpose: A floating collection is a group of items that are not housed permanently at a specific library, but belong to whichever library has most recently checked in the the item. Using a floating collection will reduce transit time or shipping expenses if sites do not want to move these materials between libraries.

This ticket here is about how to enable floating collection for a given location.

User story statement:

  • As an system administrator,

  • I want to have the capability to identify floating collection for a given location.

Scenarios:

Scenario 1: Display in Settings > Circulation > General > Other Settings

  • Login to FOLIO Snapshot, as user diku_admin

  • Go to Settings > Tenant > General > Location setup

  • When viewing the page Locations then a new column for Floating collection displays

Scenario 2: Floating collection for a given location is not enabled

  • Then the value No displays. This is the default.

Scenario 3: Floating collection for a given location is enabled

  • When the floating collection is enabled for the location

  • Then the value Yes displays.

Scenario 4: Edit view of the given New location

  • When setting up locations,

  • Then in edit mode of New location, below Service points, a new heading Floating collection displays.

Scenario 5: Enable Floating collection for a given location

  • In the section Floating collection here a check box is displayed.

  • When clicking the check box then floating collection is enabled for the given location

  • Scenario 6: Not enable Floating collection for a given location

    • When in the section Floating collection,

    • And the check box is not clicked, then floating collection is disabled for the given location

Other comments:

The permission to Enable floating collection is defined by a separate user permission to set and/or clear out this functionality for the given tenant - see ticket UIU-3164

Manual test in FOLIO Snapshot version @folio/tenant-settings 9.0.1090000001172 using Chrome.

All looks great

I’ll close the ticket as done.

I will check if we also should display the data in the Detail view. My opinion is we should, but I’ll check with about that. And then I will write up one more UITEN ticket.

Code-reviewed, and merged to master.

Should be available for QA on snapshot tomorrow.

In my earlier mock ups I actually did use the check marks, but then I got unsure. I thinkg your suggestion sounds clean and fine. Thanks

Rather than indicate “yes” or “no” in the right column of the locations list, I’m using a check-mark ✓ when this value is true and leaving it blank otherwise. Rationale: it’s more visually obvious, and it’s locale-independent.
