Searching ISBN doesn't work when search using ISBN search limiter (sometimes)

Description

Steps to repro:

  1. Log into folio-snapshot

  2. Go to inventory

  3. Do a bunch of searching using various data and changing the search limiters

  4. Search for Al gore

  5. Open the instance by Steffof

  6. Copy the ISBN: 9781575059488 (lib. bdg.)

  7. Search "All (Title, Contributor, Identifier)" for that ISBN - That works - I get my result

  8. Change search to search Identifier and search for same ISBN - That works - I get my result

  9. Change search to search ISBN and search for the same ISBN

Expected: Should return Al Gore by Steffof

Actual: Record not returned when searching ISBN

Additional information:

  • I have reproed this with ISBNs without parentheses (see screenshot and comments)

  • This bug seems intermittent

  • I wonder if this is related to

Agreed , a number of bugs seem to develop and present after search has been used for a bit. I can add that to the repro steps

Hi - when you filed the bugs - did you then use a 'fresh' FOLIO version? You know when the cache is cleared, and not too many searches has been done you do your test?

I tested with such a clear 'version' and then ISBN worked perfectly fine except for parentheses and other characters.

And yes, I most definitely think that there are hick ups in the system building up, and causing many of these bugs - so this is not 'ISBN doesn't work / ISSN doesn't work' but the system is being blocked somehow.

Hi , this actually isn't about special characters (such as parentheses) in the ISBN as I have been able to repro it for straight up ISBNs (see below ISBN is a legit ISBN for Semantic Web Primer). I wonder if it is, in fact, caused by the reset bug:

Anyway, I am going to remove the mention of parentheses and other characters in the title of this issue.

So this story is about search on ISBN numbers with concatenated data, e.g. ISBN: 9781575059488 (lib. bdg.) and being able to search on data having (), [], {} etc. is a general issue, for Titles, Identifiers (incl. ISBN, ISSN), Subject etc.
