Story: Simple SRS integration Part 4 - MARC record deleted

Description

Currently, resource descriptions can be added to the BIBFRAME database either through

  • transformation of MARC records into BIBFRAME via ETL

  • creating new resource descriptions through the Marva BIBFRAME editor

We will need a third primary source for creating new resource descriptions

  • synchronization with Inventory SRS

This card focuses on one direction --> Synching SRS with BIBFRAME when a MARC record is deleted from SRS

It is dependent on MODLD-129 - "Part 1" - which addresses how BIBFRAME will "listen" for new records added to SRS.

In scope

  • Synching MARC records deleted from SRS

1. SRS - MARC record deleted in SRS via quickMARC

GIVEN that a MARC record will be deleted in SRS

WHEN the MARC record is deleted in SRS via quickMARC

THEN the corresponding resource description is deleted in BIBFRAME

2. SRS - MARC record deleted in SRS via data import

GIVEN that a MARC record will be deleted in SRS

WHEN the MARC record is deleted in SRS via data import

THEN the corresponding resource description is deleted in BIBFRAME

Out of scope

  • Transformation of all MARC fields present in the MARC record

  • Duplicate detection (to prevent duplicate entries from being made to BIBFRAME)

  • Synching BFDB with MARC records updated in SRS

  • Synching BFDB with MARC records deleted in SRS

  • Synching SRS with updates conducted in the Marva application

  • Updating the Data Graph Viewer for resource descriptions added to BFDB via SRS
