Current situation or problem:

Libraries will need the ability to represent their collections as resource descriptions in order to build a comprehensive data graph inclusive of these collections. 

Further, we also expect that libraries will need to support multiple cataloging workflows - namely linked data and MARC - for some period of time as libraries migrate their operations to a single linked data-based model. 

To support these two objectives, we will need to establish interoperability between the Linked Data Editor and FOLIO SRS

• new bibliographic record creation in SRS --> synch with the Linked Data Editor

• updated bibliographic records stored in SRS --> synch with the Linked Data Editor

• new MARC authority records added in SRS

• existing MARC authority records updated in SRS

In scope

Inbound to Linked Data Editor 

• ability to create new resource description in linked data when a new MARC record is added to FOLIO SRS

• ability to update an existing resource description in linked data when a MARC record is updated in FOLIO SRS

• ability to identify whether a bibliographic record in FOLIO SRS has already been added to linked data

• ability to create new authority resources in linked data when a new MARC authority record is added to FOLIO SRS

Out of scope

The interoperability will need to be bi-directional, but synching from the Linked Data Editor to SRS will be addressed in a separate feature ticket

• ability to synchronize new or updated records from the Linked Data Editor to FOLIO SRS

• ability to identify whether a resource description in the Linked Data Editor has already been added to FOLIO SRS

• governance rules controlling edit actions over a record or resource description

• ability to create or update authority resources in the linked data editor
