@patty.wanninger , @julie.bickle , @Brooks Travis - please see Roman's comment above. I'll be closing this ticket as cannot reproduce unless I hear otherwise.

The title of this bug names: "overdue notices". So the bug is: Please stop sending all notices with trigger = "Loan due date/time", AFTER the item is checked in (and declared lost, aged to lost, claimed returned, renewed or the due date is changed to a later date, accordingy to current functionality)
I've checked the existing code and can see that the part of the described issue was fixed in the scope of https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/CIRC-1427#icft=CIRC-1427. It fixes declared lost, aged to lost, claimed returned cases.
But this fix was included in Kiwi HF3 release.
But as I see the evironments from the description still use Kiwi HF2 release. So the issue with sending notices for declared lost, aged to lost, claimed returned loans can be reproducible there.
In terms of closed loans, the code exists in checking if notice is relevant logic, and it is not reproducible...

I don't think Chicago was ever seeing this issue. Our experiences were:
Claimed Returned status not stopping overdue notices on open loans: https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/CIRC-1427
and request expiration notices being sent for closed-filled requests: https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/CIRC-1504

@patty.wanninger , @Brooks Travis , @(OLD ACCOUNT) Erin Nettifee & @David Bottorff , without more information Vega cannot move forward with this ticket. It will not be possible to include this in Lotus HF1. Please see @julie.bickle's comment and questions above.

Note: Thats only helpful if we can get patrons to send us the raw email/headers.
Overview:
Some institutions are inconsistently still receiving loan notices, even after the loan has closed.
These are the affected settings:
- Notice template category = Loan
- Notice policy triggers = Loan due date/time + Item aged to lost
Steps to Reproduce:
Configure overdue notices to be sent after an item is overdue as recurring
Template
Policy
Circ rules
Check out an item to user that matches the above configuration
Check in the item
Expected Results: The user would not receive any overdue notices
Actual Results: User continues to receive overdue notices even after the loan is closed
Additional information 25 May:
We discussed this ticket amongst the Circ POs on 24 May, and agreed on the following: Sorry you are not able to replicate this, we believe this has to do with the tiny volume in the test environments. We still believe this bug is real.
What we want to achieve is:
– WHEN a loan closes,
– THEN remove from the queue all scheduled notices with the following triggers: Loan due date/time + Item aged to lost : In effect, make this part of the loan closing process.
Brooks strongly suggested that, to this effet, https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/CIRC-739#icft=CIRC-739 should be revisited, 1) because customers are actually experiencing issues related to this, 2) because the tech. conditions have changed since then.
Interested parties: GVSU, Flager, MTSU, Caltech and others are reporting notices are acting weird - with Kiwi HF2
NOTE: Both this issue and https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/CIRC-1504 might possibly be solved by this old ticket https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/CIRC-739, suggested a few years ago but it was decided against.
