The FOLIO Product Council guides the functional development of the FOLIO Library Services Platform.  The Product Council (PC) manages the scope of the FOLIO product. PC has the key responsibility of providing the product vision, strategy & roadmap with close collaboration with the Community and Technical Councils. 

Seats on the Product Council are available to Members of the FOLIO community, in accordance with the FOLIO Governance Model. Member is defined as an individual who is an employee or a sponsored contractor of a Member Organization. Individuals will be elected to seats for two year terms. Shorter terms may be required for the initial transition period or to fill seats that become vacant between elections..

The Product Council is will be seeking nominees who have deep experience with one or more of:

  • Strong collaboration skills, able to drive decisions that champion the interests of the community and project
  • Leadership experience
  • Library management systems and library workflows
  • Library system specification and implementation
  • Prioritizing features in an environment of many competing interests
  • Traditional software product management, market analysis, etc.
  • Planning and executing software development projects, product ownership, project managementAgile software development methodologies, including Epic, Feature and Story creation 
  • Knowledge of recent library operations and future needs
  • Experience with defining functional requirements and understanding of technical requirements
  • Knowledge of FOLIO features and functionality as it applies to daily operational use
  • Participating in and/or managing open community governance

There are 5 open seats on the Product Council, for 2-year terms starting July 2024. Product Council members currently serving a term that ends June 2024 may stand for re-election if they have not occupied a seat for 2 consecutive terms.

Dates

Nominations will be collected until May 30, 2024 via the nomination form here.  Nominations have been extended to June 7, 2024.

Successful candidates will join the council on July 1, 2024

Jeremy HuffTexas A&M UniversityI would like to submit myself for consideration to represent Texas A&M University Libraries as a member of the FOLIO Product Council. I have been an active member of the FOLIO community since 2016, contributing as a developer; technical council member, co-chair and member of multiple sub committees; and most recently as a product owner for the FOLIO Workflow App. I believe that my experience in FOLIO development, governance, and product ownership will allow me to contribute productively to the mission and activities of the FOLIO Product council.

I would like to help Folio to be an open, inviting and flexible LSP.

- Folio team lead at University Library Erlangen-Nuremberg, which is going to implement Folio in the next 2-3 years

- Active member of the Bavarian Library Network's (BVB) FOLIO team, which self-hosts Folio

- Angages in the Tri-Council application formalisation subgroup

- 15+ years of experience of developing, and running open source software, especially at/for libraries, digital humanities, and linked open data - often acts as a tech<>SME "translator"

Lisa McCollLehigh UniversityI have had the pleasure of working with various FOLIO special interest groups and working groups since FOLIO’s inception. As the Metadata Services Manager at Lehigh University, I have a hands-on understanding of many different aspects of FOLIO. A long-time proponent of Open-source software in libraries, I am interested in working with the Product Council to help further the goals of this very import open-source project. I have attended the Product Council meetings this past year as an observer. As a result, I have a better understanding of the way the PC works and feel I can contribute positively to the council.

*AUL for Tech & Access Services at Stanford Libraries, overseeing Access Services, Acquisitions, Metadata, Preservation, and Remote Storage departments

*Co-chair of Stanford’s FOLIO Steering Group that led a successful migration in Aug 2023; responsible for high-level decisions and encouraging collaboration across campus units and libraries;

*Extensive experience designing cross-departmental workflows with broad organizational impact

*Trusted partner in creating and implementing policies and programs with peer libraries and vendors to facilitate practical and creative solutions to present and future needs.
