Version 2: The difference from version 1 is that the 856 $u and $y was moved to the 852.
- The 852 is the MARC tag where we have holdings information.
- $t is the Call number type
- $p is the Call number prefix
- $h is the Call number (we use either Online or we move the LC from the preferred 050 to here)
- $l is the permanent location (codes)
- $u is the Electronic access URI
- $y is the Electronic access Link text
- The 876 is the MARC tag where we have item information
- $a is the barcode
- $l is the permanent loan policy
- $m is the material type
- (and we would need the holdings permanent location in an 876 subfield, correct?)
Possible job profile requirements
- Match incoming 035 9\ to instance system control number
- On match, do nothing
- On no match
- Create 1 instance
- Create 5 holdings from 852 data
- Create 5 associated items from 876 data
- Then remove the 852s and 876s via MARC modification?
Question:
One record can have 1+ urls and hence multiple 856s. The largest I’ve had is a record with 10 856’s for a multiple volume set. This would mean that the MARC fields 852 below would repeat 5 times for each school and in each 856 the $u would repeat 10 times for each url. Would this not be a valid MARC file at that point?
