Required permissions

  • Create a reading room:

    o   Settings (tenant): Can create, edit and remove reading room access

  • View reading room list:

    o   Settings (tenant): Can view reading room access

  • Edit patron’s access to the reading room

    o   Users: Can view, and edit reading room access

  • View reading room access in user records:

    o   Users: Can view reading room access

  • The Reading room access app:

    o   Reading room access: In app - track access

  • User setup:

    o   Users: Can create and edit users

    o   Users: Can assign and unassign service points to users

    o   Users: Can edit user profile

Instructions

Create reading room

  1. Log in to test environment (linked above) using the RRA-setup/RRA-setup credentials.

  2. Navigate to the Settings app.

  3. Select Tenant -> Reading room access.

  4. Create a reading room:

    • Enter room name,

    • Check the ‘Public’ checkbox.

      • Note: if the ‘Public’ option is selected, the room will be allowed for all patrons by default

  5. Associate one or more service points with the reading room.

  6. Navigate to the Users app.

  7. Open a user record. Select a user with user type staff or patron (e.g. UAT, Patron1).

    •  Note: Reading room access can be set for user records with the type patron or staff only

  8. Verify reading room access.

    • Ensure that the newly created reading room is displayed in the ‘Reading room access’ section of the user record with “Allowed” access.

Change user access to the reading room

  1. Log in to test environment (linked above) using the RRA-staff/RRA-staff credentials.

  2. Navigate to the Users app

  3. Create a patron record. Enter the following details and save the record:

    • First and Last names

    • Patron group

    • Expiration date

    • Barcode

    • User type: Patron

    • Email

  4. Check the Reading room access section of the newly created user record.

    • Ensure that reading rooms are displayed with default access.

  5. Edit user record:

    • Change access for one of the reading rooms

    • Add note

  6. Check the Reading room access section for this user record. Ensure that:

    • Access for to the reading room is has been changed

    • Note is displayed

    • Last updated details display the date when the access was updated and the username of who updated it.

  1. Log in to test environment (linked above) using the RRA-security/RRA-security credentials.

  2. Navigate to the Reading room access app.

  3. Note: The logged user should have defined service point preferences in the user profile. The defined service point should be assigned to the reading room. 

  4. Ensure that the ‘Circ Desk1’ service point is selected by default (as defined in the user profile) and the Main Reading Room is displayed (as defined in the reading room setting).

  5. Enter Patron barcode “Patron1” and check reading room access details:

    • Patron name

    • Patron barcode

    • Expiration date

    • Reading room access: Allow access

  6. Allow access to the patron.

  7. Switch service point to ‘Circ Desk 4’.

  8. Ensure that the reading room has been changed and the Science & Business Reading Room is displayed.

  9. Enter Patron barcode “Patron1” and check reading room access details:

    • Patron name

    • Patron barcode

    • Expiration date

    • Reading room access: Deny access

    • Reading room access note:  not allowed

  10. Deny access to the patron.
