Meeting Notes

1. Presentation of the Cross App Data Sync Working Group:
Martina explains planned process https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1dtISiaMbbhjjR0Ca2DCj5xsjrdQwIIR2/edit#slide=id.p5
block sth. from deletion is not covered by this solution
remaining questions: what is tolerable delay for data sync?
which use cases require instant sync?
what is the impact if sync is delayed but should not?
we are asked to fill in the columns G and H in the RA use cases spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1f_RHxU0TBQqV4QHSlY7g75LZt5vC5M6uJQnmrTvc48I/edit#gid=0
more use cases can be added to the spreadsheet
when patrons are waiting, there is not a lot of tolerance for delays
some of the listed use cases have effect on searching and filtering data, but are not corrupting the circulation processes
every delay makes the user wonder if something is wrong so you would expect most or every change to be instantaneously, even though it's not needed from a functionality perspective

courses use cases: delay of max 1 minute tolerable, it's a manual process now several minutes long
sync needs to be faster when data is picked up by other systems (discovery or external software)
notification to the user about the sync/delay would be helpful

2. Brooks on UI work for INN-Reach integration:
new circulation setting in snapshot: wildcard lookup of items by barcode in checkin, checkout and requests that can be checked (default is off)
when using this setting: when entering a barcode in checkin, checkout or requests, a modal with list of items that start with the string you entered displays, information included is barcode, title, call number, item status, location, material type, loan type
you can choose from the list and continue transaction
has no impact on performance if not switched on
to support multi-library environments
list is not sortable, but would not be very long
link to item details necessary? not needed
will be available in Lotus
