Meeting notes

We have been chartered as a subgroup of the SysOps SIG. Initial draft charter on landing page Discovery Integration Subgroup - System Operations and Management SIG - FOLIO Wiki. Please give any feedback in Slack channel #discovery. We agreed to keep meeting (when) (how often). We will move to Zoom as a meeting platform to enable meeting recording and archiving. We will attempt to hold meetings to ??? minutes. ??? volunteered to serve as convener and note taker. There is no need for a mailing list at this time, we will continue to use the Slack channel for communication.

In Summary there was a great deal of interest in having full featured and recommended interfaces for 'patron empowerment', 'availability and other item information' and 'data export of the inventory'.
Beside this common interest nearly all attendees had a different situation at their institution and a different personal background. (Note: this spread will be a great source for the further process.)

For the above stated needs, FOLIO provides already APIs. (edge_oai, edge_patron, edge rtac)
In the discussion it was obvious, that there is a need to improve/extend these modules. It seems to be the consensus that three work teams should collect demands to discuss them later with the POs.

Just tree obvious examples:

  • edge_oai should support marc as export format
  • edge_patron needs to work with human readable IDs
  • edge_rtac should support more details e.g. license information for online resources

It was decided, that the there is no need for a own mailing list. All communication should be public in #discovery

(warning) At the days of divergent rules on daylight saving, Eastern time will stay our reference. So in Europe our meeting at Nov. 1. is one hour earlier. (Germany 16:00)
