Kubernetes Demoes | Ingolf | Ingolf plans to invite folks who are working on Kubernetes CI Deployment for Folio. Ingolf reserves July 2nd and July 9th session for this. ----- Anton: For pure Kubernetes solution you need experienced, senior staff. For Rancher you probably need only one senior position. Axel: Production with an SLA / Rancher is a good start. Brandon: You can run Kubernetes in VMWare. Any kind of Kubernetes support will go through a provider. Axel: We have to take care of GDPR requirements, if we do not host on premise. Ingolf: Deployment tasks have to be situated in the IT department. Otherwise I can't deploy with Terraform. Tod: What are the benefits of running it in the cloud ? Part of this trade-off is: What is your infrastructure strategy ? Are orchestration and Docker an infrastructure strategy of the librray at this time ? Anton: Quality The quality of the building is decisive. Servers can not be in the broom room. It*s not free, it produces costs. You also need to pay staff to maintain the servers. Tod: We have FreeBSD and RedHat. Anton: Chalmers is a small library. They are being hosted by EBSCO. Library of Florence is also being hosted by EBSCO. |
