Inventory search. Relabel filter to be named Effective location (item) - in all three segments

Description

Overview: The current implementation of effective location does not cover holdings with no associated item records, then it's misleading to call the filter Effective location.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Login to FOLIO Snapshot, go the the Search and Filter pane in either Instance, Holdings or Item segment

Expected result:
In all three segments the filter Effective location is labelled Effective location (item)

Actual result:
In all three segments the filter is labeled: Effective location, which is misleading while the effective location is only covering item records effective location, and therefore does not cover the situation where there is an effective location for the holdings record, with no associated item records (which is a common usecase for serials).

Manual test in FOLIO Snapshot, version @folio/inventory 2.0.1000826, using Chrome.

All looks good. Thanks . I'll close the ticket as done.

Hi - re:

I think we do need to outline what happens in the scenario(s) where there is a holding record with no item(s) attached, as this will occur. (For example, Cornell does not create item records for most of our rare materials.) Does this mean that there is no effective location?

Yes, right now, the current implementation of Effective location is only taking into account if there are attached item records.
We'll need to do some rework on the Effective location to include the scenario where there is only a holdings record, e.g. for electronic materials, serials, rare materials etc.

I definitely had misunderstood scenarios 1 & 2 – I see now that they both include an item record. I had read the blank item line as either an item with no location specified or no item. I think we do need to outline what happens in the scenario(s) where there is a holding record with no item(s) attached, as this will occur. (For example, Cornell does not create item records for most of our rare materials.) Does this mean that there is no effective location?

Okay. Then let's call it a story.

And I can work with the MM-SIG and the RA-SIG and try to solve scenario 1 and scenario 2 in the Effective location logic - https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/display/RA/Effective+Location+Logic

Nope. I was the PO for Effective location and authored that wiki page. You are misunderstanding scenario 1 and 2. As I said before, they were never intended to cover the no-item scenario. If you want to cover the no-item scenario, you will need to write new stories and draft a new wiki page.

This issue is about changing filter labels. In it was specified that the filter should be named "Effective location". The fact that the filters are not labeled "Effective location (item)" is not a bug, it's a changed requirement.
