Requesting an extension of edge-SIP2 to support sending the Hold shelf expiration date field from the request in the item information response for use on Automated Material Handlers.
Use case: For automated material handlers that print hold receipts for requested items, having the hold expiration date printed on the receipt would be very valuable (and is a common ask among our staff).
There are opinions about how “time” works and questions that need answering:
Should the time be localized to the time zone?
This could be a configuration option, but I think yes.
2025-03-20T06:59:59
becomes2025-03-20T23:59:59
Should the 1 second be rounded up and simply display the date?
Rounded up
2025-03-20T06:59:59
becomes2025-03-21
I think this is a bad idea.
Should the time be omitted and only the date displayed?
2025-03-20T06:59:59
becomes2025-03-20
This could be a configuration option as well. For Spokane, we omit the time on all our notices and inform customers they have “through $date” to retrieve their request.
