apparently this is an issue in Nolana (R3 2022), Morning Glory (R2 2022) - but not in Orchid - I think this is a question for Khalilah to decide, if she finds that this is something to fix for the affected releases.

Hi ,
If I understand the issue being described correctly, after testing in Orchid, I can't seem to be able to reproduce this issue. Here, I added an system identifier with a leading period to a record, and was able to retrieve it with a search for the identifier with the leading period:
Does anyone have specific examples of records where this is not working as expected? Or am I misunderstanding?

Overview:
When performing an identifier (all) or keyword search on an instance identifier that contains a leading period ("."), no results are returned even if there is an exact match for the entered search term. If you replace the "." with an "*" the search returns exactly what would be expected.
Steps to Reproduce:
Log into a Morning Glory system that has instances with identifiers that meet the parameters described above.
Search for an exact identifier that begins with a "."
Search for the same identifier, but replace "." with "*"
Expected Results:
The records with the entered identifier in step #2 are returned.
The same records are returned in step #3, with possible additional matches based on the wildcard.
Actual Results:
The search in step #2 yields no results.
The search in step #3 yields results expected in #2
