In the past, we were able to manually enter enrollment dates, birthdates, etc.-- which is very convenient for automated UI testing. The input box does actually accept typing, however it is limited to a single character. Currently, the only way to successfully input a date is to use the date picker-- which is not optimal for automated tests or library personnel doing data entry.

Furthermore, the date picker pops-up when clicking on the input box-- personally, I think it should only pop-up if the calendar button is clicked.
