MARC Holdings - Leader position 18 accept a space and \ as a valid value

Description

  • A good number of MARC holdings records do not express a value for Leader position 18. IT may be a space or \

  • Requirement:  Update a MARC holdings record Leader position 18 to also accept a space or \ in addition to n and o.

  • If Leader 18 is space then quickMARC should populate the UI with \ and allow it to be successfully saved

  • If Leader 18 is \  then quickMARC should retain \ and allow it to be successfully saved

  • If Leader 18 is not a space, \, n , i then show error message that an invalid value has been entered

Apologies   and . "i" is an acceptable value NOT "o"

Denys Bohdan August 2, 2022 at 10:28 AM

Hey , what is the complete list of valid values?
https://www.loc.gov/marc/holdings/hdleader.html lists "i" and "n"
But the description lists space, "\", "n" and "o"

Denys Bohdan August 2, 2022 at 10:25 AM

MARC Holdings documentation only listed "i" and "n" values as valid https://www.loc.gov/marc/holdings/hdleader.html

We'll add support for "\" and " " too

Seems to be UI validation issue. I've tested API calls with \ and space, both values are acceptable on back-end side
