Update the MARC-Instance field mapping for InstanceType (336$a and $b) LOTUS

Description

Update the default mapping for MARC 336$a and 336$b. See examples in attached MARC file and Word document

Currently, the first 336$b code is used to look up and assign the Instance Type ID, which populates the Resource type term, code, and source in the Instance detail view). If there is no 336$b, no Instance term is assigned. This revised mapping allows the first 336$a to assign the Instance Type ID in the absence of 336$b

  1. Use the first 336$b to

    • assign the Instance Type ID Check Mark

    • and populate the Resource type code Check Mark

    • and derive the Resource type term (already implemented) Check Mark

  2. If no 336$b, use the first 336$a to

    • assign the Instance Type ID Check Mark

    • and populate the Resource type term Check Mark

    • and derive the Resource type code Check Mark

  3. If there is no 336$b and 336$a is not recognized, or does not map to a Resource type code

    • then assign the Instance Type ID that represents Check Mark

    • Resource type term of Unspecified Check Mark

    • and Resource type code of zzz Check Mark
