[Spike] DCB circulation via SIP2

Description

Purpose:

Investigate what it would take to perform checkout and checkin of DCB virtual items via SIP2. This would be exclusive to FOLIO since we are using real inventory items in Polaris and Sierra.

I will need to consult with some FOLIO folks regarding #2. For #1, I think the solution may require another checkin by the user in FOLIO. I just need to confirm this as they have the workflow now with their existing solution.

Hi   and ,

The good news is that the virtual item's checkin and checkout operation works via sip2 kiosk ( I tested it with Volaris Rancher 1).

But, couple of points to be kept in mind for DCB usage -

  1. As we know there is no provision of generating slips in sip2 when checkin and checkout operations is performed therefore, how will the item's effective location institution be made visible to the user via sip2 on these actions? I am discussing about the scenario mentioned in .

  2. Will the kiosk machine's current location match up with service points for which the hold request has been created for virtual items ? If yes, then we are good and if not then too the circulation code will behave as it suppose to and the DCB transaction status will not get updated unless the service points match up.
