Walkthrough of mockups of Bulk User Edit workflow

• Bulk Edit Mockups

  • Review of the proposed workflow

    • Identifying records for editing (searching & selecting records)

    • Editing records (add, remove, update)

    • Review changes

    • Confirm changes commit changes

    • Log changes

    • Handle exceptions

  • Mockups are in very early stages

  • Bulk edit as an independent app (starting with only user’s functionality)

  • Potential to save queries to be reused

  • Queries are done in the bulk edit app

    • Records could be selected individually

    • queries will use some controlled language in the form of dropdowns

  • Mockup includes some form of cross app searching

    • This is well outside the scope of the pilot

    • Combination of searching between Circulation and Users potentially planned for mid 2022

  • Potential to upload either UUIDs, Username, external system ID (once it is made unique), or user barcodes to match on

    • This behavior will be similar to the data export identifier upload

    • This would require having a list of identifiers pre-made

    • What would happen if those identifiers don’t bring up any matches?

      • Some kind of notification

      • It would be useful if these failed matches could be downloaded as a list

  • Select Edit/Delete

    • Select kinds of edits (this screen lists the number of records to be changed)

      • Multiple edits could be added to the changes list

  • Confirmation screen showing some of the matching records with a preview of the selected changes as well as a list of the changes that have been selected

  • Before the delete action is taken it will provide a list of records that cannot be deleted because of open transactions

    • This list would need to be downloaded in the case of a longer list

  • There may be some cap on the number of records that can be changed (at least in the pilot)

  • Many more things to be discussed around deletions

Revisit Profile Pictures

• The development work to remove the setting to disable/enable the profile picture has been done, should we allow them to add this to the project

  • Yes, this should be removed it is confusing to have the option to enable a feature that is not extant. We just need to make sure the change will be easily reversible when the feature is developed

  • In the long term this feature will need to be specced out 

• This kind of issue of features being incomplete, without any development planned should be addressed with a policy.  Brooks will bring up this issue with PC.
