Liaison Updates

All

  • CC:  @Christie Thomas

    • (July 13 meeting) Kristin Martin approved as a new CC member to fill the empty spot post-election.

    • Discussion: Security Dashboard Proposal - Decision log: DR-000046 - Security DashboardTC: 2026-06-22 Meeting Notes

      • Questions: Does it have to be AWS or can a member host this? What impact does this have on the bottom line for AWS expenditures?

        • Does not have to be AWS, but needs to be a public resource.

        • General consensus that this is something the community should be doing.

      • Next step: CC will send a short message asking for feedback from the community to the folio-general slack channel. Deadline for feedback will be July 27, 2026. If anyone steps up as a potential host, that will be considered, otherwise will move forward with AWS.

    • New topic: Likely to move from Localize to Weblate for translation services in the near future; plan to split costs with VuFind. Working up details now and will also consider a community member to host community infrastructure.

    • Question from @Wayne Schneider , the cost of the security dashboard is quite low. Is this going to be a problem for approval?

      • Answer: Even regularly adding small costs can add up.
Everybody likely recognizes that this security dashboard is important but they want to do their due dillegence. They also looked into other options.

  • PC: @Christie Thomas

    • (July 2 meeting) Overflow from tri-council meeting. PC updates on community priorities dashboard, community directed development, and release management communication.

      • community directed development will continue under the community council.

        • It is unclear if there will be a TC representative at this time.

          • There is a Topic Backlog where this can be added as a discussion topic.

      • release management communication is interested in improving communication to ease the burden on POs and developers and produce something that is more consumable by SMEs.

      • An unpublished draft of a new FOLIO wiki home page is available for review. (View is in edit mode.) Onus will be on EBSCO, councils, and the community at large to feed the team stories for the home page and blog.

    • (July 9 meeting) Discussion of SIG support and transforming recent discussion and suggestions into actions to better support FOLIO sustainability. Specific concerns are around community member burnout, increasing member participation, and aligning participation with successful outcomes.

  • RMS Group: @Julian Ladisch

    • Sunflower CSP#7 planned for Jul 27, 2026.

    • Planning for better release notes that are less technical but more related how functional workflows are affected.

    • PC is working to post to folio.org a news release for Trillium, this is the draft, feel free to suggest additions: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PCwmAnRQwgCxahF4M_lFHUVRoBnPIQYn/edit#heading=h.73yy4c88d7i7

    • EBSCO development teams plan to switch to a quarterly development cycle (5 two weeks sprints, 1 three week documentation sprint); this is for getter planning only, not for releases. This is independent from the flower release cycle.

    • Draft release date for Umbrellaleaf General Availability (GA) under discussion

    • Need to re-evaluate how new functionality can be included before Umbrellaleaf GA date if it is limited to a single module unlikely to cause a regression (service pack).

  • Security Team: @Julian Ladisch

    • business as usual, nothing worth to report

  • Eureka Early Adopters:  @Craig McNally:

    • Status of Eureka Adoption

    • (from @Viktor Gema) Able to deploy Rancher with two versions. Pushing close to finalizing and things are looking promising.

Vacant TC seat

All

https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/x/Y5J:

Any council may appoint members to fill vacant seats (up to the maximum) on the council, if necessary.  When possible, individuals who were the next highest vote getters in the previous election should be selected.  The Community Council will ratify any appointment to ensure that it doesn’t violate any council membership rules.

This is a 2-year position that is open.

Should there be a list of some possibilities of individuals created by @Wayne Schneider and @Olamide Kolawole or should there be a sub-group created to fill in the seat?

  • TC decided to have the list created rather than have a sub-group.
