Demo of catalog integration

 @Hkaplanian, group

Harry will be providing the demo that we did not have time for last week. And there will be a more general discussion of outstanding integration issues.

Demo of real-time display of catalog information. Showed live circulation data, patron fees and fines, etc. integrated with EDS through the edge APIs. (EBSCO developed edge API and contributed.) Edge API should be ready for VuFind and Blacklight.

The demo as there is no export yet in FOLIO, a number of bib records have been added to the tenant but have yet to be extracted and added to EDS. EBSCO expects to be using OAI-PHM for harvesting soon, which will help keep these in sync.

Still needs some performance enhancements, has already benefitted from optimizations to inventory and circulation. Q2 work includes more performance work.

Also, Harry demonstrated logging into this instance using Open Athens, which is SAML-based authentication.

Topics for future meetings

  • Maybe contact @mark.stacy to give us the status of the work with Docker Compose and Docker Swarm at Colorado ?

  • How to have an Edge Module to solve an Integration issue

  • Edge API for integrations, approach @Craig McNally and @Matt Reno for demo of how to build this

  • Network topology for FOLIO and how we expose it to outside world.

  • Common practices for container orchestration. Suggestion to focus on common denominator of Docker, Kubernetes, fronted with Rancher.

Bootstrapping Admin

@Wayne Schneider wrote up a Discuss piece on Administrative User Bootstrapping@jroot (Unlicensed) has given feedback. If you have feedback, this is the time.

@Hkaplanian suggests the needs should be written up as JIRA tickets so they can be prioritized, and figure out an Epic that they can be collected under. @jroot (Unlicensed) and @Anton Emelianov (Deactivated) have added related JIRAs to the page Folio integration with an orchestration toolset. These are possible topics for the June FOLIO meeting, depending on who can attend.
