  • Determine note taker: patty.wanninger
  • Review action items
    • Discussed with Jakub the Non-functional requirements for the NCIP module.
      • Jakub said that he and Michelle Suranofsky had discussed the structure of the service so that the edge APIs act as "first class citizens." They are designing a system so that the "supertenant" can receive the module description when no tenant ID is specified.
      • A potential expansion of this structure is to use different filters to structure edge modals - so that filter only needs to look at the API key authentication and then let Okapi forward traffic.
      • Jakub will write the appropriate JIRA tickets to support this structure
    • Anton presented improving quality in a dashboard to the PC. The recording is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hyE6aZU9tP3XTi8KIMNbmGYdFR4byCow/view?usp=sharing Anton's part starts @17 min. Please review and let Ingolf know if you'd like Anton to present to this group.

  Deploymemt with Kubernetes and Rancher

For this discussion, you are really going to want to watch the recording for this meeting, which will be on this page: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1b-050n56XjCQeYuKAv9jcbKdllGvzxU_

Texas A & M is testing out Kubernetes and Rancher to deploy their FOLIO instance.

Jason demonstrated a mini-Kube setup with a Rancher front end.

Single node deployment

1 Okapi node

1 db node

Ranger tags the images assuming you have a registry running. TAMU will run on premise registry using VMWare, at least to start.

They like the Rancher interface

Kubernetes is similar to Docker but very complex and powerful. The networking is complicated.

Super-great wiki page here: Texas A&M Libraries use-case for Kubernetes with Rancher 2.0

Jason will put together a list of links for the group.

Action items

  • Group: Watch recording of PC meeting with Anton's presentation "Improving QA in a Dashboard"
  • Wayne reaches out to Jason to work on running Rancher on a Vagrant box. The results will be documented for the group.
