Convener Role change

Ludwig/
Julia

Julia will succeed Ludwig as convener of the doc wg in April.

Trillium release & new branch of documentation

Julia

Reminder: The Trillium branch will be opened by the end of April
General release date is May 29th, so the documentation should be uploaded by May 22nd

Is everyone on track? Any assistance needed?

Note: Documentation doesn’t need to be done by Bugfest. Just one week ahead of general release.

General questions in regards to workload/openness to taking on another task

Julia

General poll on how everyone is doing workload-wise.

The PO wg is currently braindstorming ways to make paid FOLIO memberships more attractive. One idea is to provide training materials/collections of materials which they’d like to be maintained by the documentation wg.
How are we feeling about the general idea? Is that something we’d be open to?

EXPLANATION:

  • Put new pages under the governance of the documentation working group.

  • Training materials – behind a paywall. Only accessible to paying members.

  • Not create something new, but restructure what’s already there. Save the paying customers some time.

  • Right now, paying members only get a Wolfcon registration. What else could they be offered?

  • QUESTION: How do we keep the community-based spirit of FOLIO?

RESPONSES:

  • Should volunteers be creating something people pay for?

    • If there are improvements that should be made to the documentation, we should do that. Not create something only useful for paying members.

  • Possibly in competition with EBSCO.

    • Training and materials are a paid service for EBSCO libraries, similar to the German consortium.

  • Some places already have their own training materials.

  • CC members sub-committee: Why is the PO working group discussing this, but not the CC group?

BACKLOG

Julia

Question: Are those topics still relevant for the group or can they be removed from the agenda?

  • Topic documentation archive + navigation in the different releases still open: first idea: use flower symbols from the releases on the top open

    • Documentation archive: sometimes you don’t know which release you’re on on the documentation website. Do a little label or flower symbol on every page of every release, so you always know what documentation you’re looking at.

  • Contact to Julian concerning Docsy Upgrade still ongoing: 1st step update search engine, then theme

    • Problem with the search on our website. Not sure where we are there.

  • Finding a new place for "Install FOLIO", e.g. in GitHub open

    • Install FOLIO pages have a different target audience. Installing FOLIO, not using FOLIO. Is there a better place for this kind of information?

      • Patrick who enhanced the development and structure of information has left and hasn’t been replaced.

ACTION ITEM:

  • Julia S. will look into the status of these items, and we can decide next month how we want to proceed with them.

  • Prioritize checking whether the search works as intended. Julia will meet with Martina to figure out what the problem is and whether it still exists.
