Opportunities for collaboration with POs in the writing process

Collaboration Between Documentation Working Group & POs

    • Do the POs have wishlist items about the documentation? We'd like to this to be a two-way street – what do POs need? What are their concerns? What feedback do they have for us regarding staying aware of changes in FOLIO that require updated documentation? 

    • We suggest a label that can be applied to JIRAs that will require updates to the documentation. There is already a label called doc_needed that could be used. Would the POs agree to use a label like this?

  • Pre-Release meeting

    • We should formalize it

    • One-on-One

    • Initiated by the documentation specialist when needed

    • There’s a difference between a new page for a new App or an update to an excisting page

    • PO Meeting on Dec 17th.

      • Ludwig or Martina could give a small overview about this group or post it in the PO Slack or Khalilah could talk about it

  • Label

    • POs are to assign the label

    • There are existing labels if we don’t use them we could create a new label. doc_needed is easy to find

    • Khalilah will send out a message

  • Collaborative editing (optional)

    • Do we really need this?

      • verify not recreate the documentation

      • Helpful if you are on an other release at your home library than the release you write about

  2. Can the working group review the following plans to add more help documentation to FOLIO UI. Your group's feedback is most appreciated. → Please read through them and comment in the Jira ticket. Provide feedback. Add suggestions.

    4. Also Kimie and I have discussed making the ? help icon on the main FOLIO toolbar contextual, meaning when the user is on an app (ex. Inventory) when the user clicks on the ? help icon then go directly to the Inventory app help page.

    5. Also next year, we will bring back recorded sprint demos.

  • What help documentation do you provide? PO’s sometimes create their own documentation and put it in the wiki. Get them on the docs.folio.org

  • Topic documentation archive + navigation in the different releases still open: first idea: use flower symbols from the releases on the top open

  • Contact to Julian concerning Docsy Upgrade still ongoing: 1st step update search engine, then theme

  • Finding a new place for "Install FOLIO", e.g. in GitHub open
