Administrivia

@Olga Kalachinskaya

  • Notetaker - AI (@Thomas Trutt)

  • Update on grouping the related tickets - We are not able to do it. Probably a permission issue but also it might be better to not link them anyway as what we think is related might not be related from the developers point of view.

  • Question for all libraries: Any need in printing from Courses?

For reference: Jira tickets labeled Courses that are not closed
Google sheet with existing tickets and proposed new features

Review of the ticket drafts created by Susan in the RA-Reserves folder

Review of other ticket drafts if any prepared

🗣️ Discussion Points:

  1. Administrative Issues (11:02 - 11:07)

    • Grouping Tickets in JIRA: Both Olga and Susan attempted to group tickets in JIRA but faced permissions issues. They concluded that it might be better not to group tickets as developers might not find it relevant.

      • Permissions Issue: Difficulty in grouping tickets due to permissions.

      • Relevance to Developers: Grouping might not align with developers' preferences.

    • Printing Issues in Course Resources: Discussion on whether there are any printing-related issues in course resources. No current issues identified, but the importance of exporting lists for personal adjustments and printing from Google Sheets or Excel was highlighted.

      • Export Lists: High priority for exporting lists from displays.

      • Urgent Printing Issues: Focus on printing user records like checkouts when a patron is present.

  2. Channel Renaming (11:07 - 11:09)

    • Folio Channel Renaming: Announcement that Folio channels are being renamed to align with products. The workplace will be renamed to Open Library Foundation.

      • Renaming Process: Channels renamed to correspond with products for easier navigation.

      • Immediate Changes: Some channels already renamed, with more changes expected soon.

  3. Bugfest Meeting (11:09 - 11:13)

    • Bugfest Schedule: Claiming starts on March 21, with testing from March 26 to April 11.

      • Claiming and Testing Dates: Detailed timeline for Bugfest activities.

    • Eureka Platform: Introduction to new capabilities and authorization roles. Encouragement to watch the recorded meeting for detailed information.

      • Capabilities and Roles: Overview of new capabilities and how they are assigned.

      • Recording Availability: Recording of the meeting available on the testing wiki page.

  4. Course Creation Process (11:14 - 11:37)

    • Adding Instructors: Proposal to add the instructor section to the initial course creation process to avoid forgetting to include instructors.

      • Current Process: Instructors are added as a separate step after course creation.

      • Desired Behavior: Instructors should be added during the initial course creation.

      • Permissions and UI Design: Discussion on the implications for permissions and UI design, including the use of modals and avoiding new screens.

  5. Redirect After Course Creation (11:37 - 11:50)

    • Save and Close Functionality: Proposal to redirect to the newly created course page instead of the full list of courses.

      • Current Behavior: Redirects to the full list of courses, requiring users to search for the newly created course.

      • Proposed Solution: Change the destination page to the newly created course page for better workflow efficiency.

  6. Ticket Review and Prioritization (11:50 - 11:57)

    • Difficulty and Detail Assessment: Introduction of new columns in the ticket list to assess difficulty and need for more detail.

      • New Columns: Columns Difficulty, Needs More Details and Notes were added to the ticket list. In addition a new column Reviewed By was added during the Meeting.

      • Review and Prioritization: Encouragement to all members of the group to review the UXPROD tickets based on these assessments, pick one with Low or Medium difficulty for a review and add your name to the Reviewed By column.

✅ Decisions Made:

  • Grouping Tickets: Decision to not pursue grouping tickets in JIRA due to potential irrelevance to developers.

  • Channel Renaming: Acknowledgment of the renaming process and its implications.

  • Bugfest Participation: Encouragement to participate in Bugfest testing to avoid delays.

  • Course Creation Process: Agreement on the need to add the instructor section to the initial course creation process.

  • Redirect After Course Creation: Consensus on the need to redirect to the newly created course page.

✅ For the next meeting:

  • Members of the group who added new features to the Google sheet will create draft tickets and we will review them at the meeting.

  • Each member of the group will present an existing ticket that they picked with their suggestions of the edits if any needed.
