Meeting Notes
- Announcements
- UAT opportunities from Slack:
- UAT for ECS Requesting today. Please join in if you have time. Testing is open until Friday. https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/x/aYfnF (from Stephanie Buck)
- UAT for the duplicate pick slip printing prevention functionality from today through Friday. Full details can be found at Ramsons UAT - Preventing duplicate pick slip printing (from julie.bickle)
- WOLFCon next week; no meetings next week, 2 RA SIG meetings during WOLFCon, hopefully will be hybrid
- Agenda Topics: Actual Cost
- Two ways of setting up fees: set cost and actual cost
- Actual cost has involved labor-intensive workarounds until Poppy; some issues persist
- Experience in production environments
- MSU has been using actual cost in production (Erin Weller) for a couple months
- changing policy from set cost to actual cost is a problem for loans created before actual cost implemented (fees and blocks not waived on return; not sure about when fee is paid) Jira is in place
- Workaround for this problem: duplicate lost item fee policies and create new one for new loans per Olga Kalachinskaya, but you have to keep old one until all old materials come back, listed somewhere in wiki
- every morning staff run report of loans that need actual cost added; lack of filter is onerous; loans with entered cost remain on the list until page is refreshed
- notices appear to be working; cannot test notices in test tenant (this is possible, contact your host)
- At the moment at MSU, when something ages to lost no fee charged and no notice, billing three times a day as soon as item ages to lost;
- Olga: in the majority of cases, items are returned, so we don't want to do it right away, how do you sift through the report; it should take a price from some field
- Issues in testing at 5 colleges (Q CSP3)
- the same notice template goes out regardless for fees charged (both processing fee at aged to lost and lost item fee; workaround at UChicago (for other reasons) is to send overdue notice notifying of processing fee
- on return, lost item fee waived and item available, but loan remained aged to lost and open, overdue fine charged, this may have been fixed in Q
- not all transactions being captured in circ log; charging of actual cost, crediting is happening but circ action is billed; should have been a notice
- larger bug as to circ action for fee/fines--needs to be reported as Jira
- not all circ log filters have been revisited to allow for subsequent actions
- Is there interest in developing actual cost to be done automatically?
- it was discussed as a phase two feature but had to be optional since some libraries want to use actual cost at moment rather than using a field of amount entered at some point in the past (Order price vs current actual price)
- Discussed in App interaction SIG: https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AppInt/pages/442269787/2024-09-09+Meeting+notes+itemCost+Field+on+item+record
