PC updates
Eureka platform was approved so long as there would be backwards compatibility.
PC would want to know if there were any shortcomings with Spokane’s custom application(s).
PC established a list of requirements that should be met in order for the Eureka migration and Sunflower release to proceed.
There was a new ILL app presented to PC in January.
Joey and Lisa attended the PC/SIG Conveners meeting and expanded on the concept of “institutional buy-in” for devoting staff time to SIG participation. It can be difficult to balance internal projects at an institution while devoting time to the FOLIO project and staff having to justify that to their directors/administration can be difficult. Could PC help with this somehow?
Other topics:
Joey asked if there were any SIP exchange message examples - does this exist?
This was a good example of how the “Inbox” of discussion items can be used to track topics and do our best not to let things fall off the radar. Both of these were addressed - the RA SIG had a presentation about the progress of SIP during 2024, its current roadmap, and their messaging formats. Joey added this to the “Topic Tracking” which was demonstrated as well.
Spokane successfully deployed their own in-house developed FOLIO application - Secinci/Track - for reporting security incidents and issuing trespasses in their libraries. Their FOLIO is cloud-hosted while the backend application is hosted on-premises (which came with its own set of challenges).
Bug found/fixed: OKAPI-1201: Proxy should NOT relay Host headerClosed
Spokane is creating a “developer getting started guide” with a blank CRUD application ready to plug-and-play with LOTS of comments about “lessons learned” for developers new to the FOLIO environment.
Spokane plans to rapid-develop a New Material Request/Patron Driven Acquisition app for FOLIO with its own VuFind module and will ask for community feedback soon starting with Lehigh University.
Any challenges with Eureka should be communicated to Product Council (promptly).
