Eureka early adopters updates

@Jeremy Huff @Kirstin Kemner-Heek @Charlotte Whitt

  • Jeremy:

    • 1st thing to to when running Eureka is getting all third party app deployed

    • deployed manager apps

    • currently register applications and modules and start using apps

    • goal: document tipps

  • Jason

    • worked with EBSCO Kitfox team and GBV and Texas A&M

    • put tooling in place

  • Kirstin

    • manager applications are hard to start

    • in close contact with EBSCO, ID and Texas A&M

    • it will take longer - timeline needs to be extended

  • Lucy in chat: GALILEO is holding off on Ramsons Eureka and will begin our acceptance testing on Ramsons Okapiu in the next month

    • (Not going live til this summer though, on Sunflower Eureka hopefully)

  • Reason: some functionality appears to be broken according to EBSCO -

    • this is in a Ramsons environment, in a test system

  • same functionality is working on Okapi

  • Jeremy: it would be helpful to know what is not working

  • Lucy agrees to provide further information after the PC meeting -

    • all early adopters should be included in this conversation/ information loop

Transition to Eureka Permissions

all

Documentation, coordination, SIG role in the transition

  • there was a TC conversation on permissions

  • Charlotte asked whether permissions need to be rewritten

  • this should not be needed, a team of writers has already rewritten the permissions

  • Charlotte will check on the percentage that has been rewritten already

  • Charlotte in chat: The http://docs.folio.org  (user documentation) would need to be updated too

  • User Management SIG will test Eureka permissions to familiarise with it during SIG sessions

  • everyone is welcome to take part

  • Official FOLIO documentation will need to be updated as well - Documentation SIG is aware

    • volunteers are needed and always welcome

  • Tipps and Tricks pages will need an update as well, e.g. how to get from one permission concept to the other

  • Charlotte in chat: Here a FOLIO wiki page, which we need to update - or add a new page for Eureka Permission Roles - Guides to FOLIO Permissions

  • to do for pc work should be coordinated, so regular check-ins with PC will help; find people who are responsible for the different documentation pieces

@Alexis Manheim to invite a group of people to a future PC meeting to work on documentation

  3. Better sample data - plan to have available in Sunflower in progress

  4. Develop calendar system and populate all PC activities in progress

New goals
  1. Update PC Review Process

  2. Engage with App Formalization

  3. Revive Community Development

  4. Solicit & analyze community priorities

  5. Communicate Development priorities and activity to the community

@Jesse Koennecke on the Google Calendar

  • Jesse has set up a google calendar for FOLIO

  • why do we need this: for Product Council calendar/events to track https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B_Uxuq_-LaPqRENgOCUaGSjZNLuSiiIO7EbAmEvikwU/edit?gid=0#gid=0

  • Q: who should have access to add to and edit the calendar

    • A: should be limited to PC members

  • Access permissions for events = View permissions

    • it could be public, it could be made available for Open Library Foundation

    • Martin in chat: +1 to everyone can read, PC members can edit, Maura, Martina and Charlotte agree

  • Q: Do we want to track SIG meetings on this calendar?

    • A: No, then it would not be a PC calendar, we can create more calendars if need be = focus on PC topics

  • Q: what information should be included

    • A: conferences, e.g. national Library conferences like ALA, German conferences

      • Make conferences a different calendar that can be added/removed as needed.  Like the holidays.

    • indicate when PC members miss meetings

    • SIG convener meetings and reminders for those

    • Community updates

    • Tri-Council meetings

    • OLF round tables

  • Q: who manages the Google calendar and would test it out?

    • A: Jesse will manage the calendar

    • A: Charlotte volunteers to help testing

Better sample data - plan to have available in Sunflower

  • group is meeting and gathers data for FOLIO Snapshot

  • slowly progressing

  • timeline will not be completed for Sunflower

Incorporate all activities of Prioritization and Roadmap Group into regular PC activities

  • is in progress, could be added to calendar

  • Roadmap is in progress of updating

  • Jesse proposes in chat: Perhaps every 4-6 months - Check and update Roadmap.

  • needs update on funders roadmaps

    • plan: ask funders on an annual basis to provide updated roadmaps
