SIG Reports 2025-07-10

Reports should include:

  • Discussion of specific development areas. Including Jira issues for both features and bugs is helpful.

  • Work related to the FOLIO Roadmap or work that occurred that is not well-represented on the FOLIO roadmap.

  • Information about demos, user discussions, or future functionality for FOLIO.

  • Spins-ups or wind-downs of specific subgroups or working groups in a particular area.

  • Ideas or issues that came up feel outside the scope of the SIG but need commenting.

When you click on Submit Request, this will create a new wiki page that will need to be published. To submit a request,

Acquisitions SIG

@ Heather McMillan and @ Kimberly Pamplin

@Kristin Martin

Discussed Encumbrances/Payments against upcoming fiscal year, specifically allowing encumbrances against upcoming fiscal year and paying invoices against an upcoming fiscal year.

Reviewed with Joe Reimers UAT for the Lists App. Joe received feedback on what additional queries were desired and main things to tackle in the Trillium release.

Discussed Implementers Topics 180, and 182 both related to the Finance App. Also Implementers’ Topic 183, related to GOBI Integration.

Ann Crowley and Dung-Lan helped Kimberly Pamplin with moderating meetings while Heather McMillan was out for a month.

App Interaction SIG

@Tara Barnett

@Martina Schildt

App Interaction has been on a brief hiatus due to summer travel. Members met for a “rap session” where ideas and pain points were gathered.
Our major project for the next few months will be preparing for our “Search and Standards Documentation” WOLFcon session, and building up the documentation resource we hope to showcase in this session. This process will fold in Jira work that needs to be done on several outstanding Cross App Priority issues on search topics, and hopefully help to move these issues forward. Additionally, we are optimistic that this proposed documentation will serve as a resource for community members on search topics.

Data Import SIG

@Christie Thomas , @Jennifer Eustis

@Jennifer Eustis

We just recently became a SIG and got our co-coveners and volunteers to take notes for the meetings. Since then:

  • We had our first collaboration with the Acquisitions SIG on MARC Orders. This discussion will be continued as we want to improve this functionality.

  • We have scheduled a demo and discussion on working with MARC Authorities.

  • We have changed how to interact with JIRA:

    • We created 2 new labels: data-import-sig-needs-review and data-import-sig-reviewed. We now have a dashboard for each of these. For any issue discussed in the SIG, we write the summary of any decisions in the issue’s comments and determine whether to change the label to reviewed or keep as review. Our hope is that our decisions can be viewed by a wider audience.

  • The SIG is challenged in that we are dealing with fixing thin threads and functionality that doesn’t work as expected. The SIG feels that we would like an entire dev team working on DI rather than being split between Inventory and DI.

Documentation Working Group

@Ludwig Liebl

@Martina Tumulla

Documentation for sunflower was published.
Documentation WG discussed the table of content order in the left menu of https://docs.folio.org/docs/ especially for new content e.g. Linked Data Editor as well as for reorganizing pages like Data Import.
From September on the areas Users and Lists are vacant. Documentation WG is looking for volunteers.

Discovery SIG

@Nicole Trujillo

Reviewing all Jira tickets to add to our dashboard so we can track work being done. We’re also brainstorming ways we can tag tickets by discovery topic of interest (sorting, patron accounts) to better align with discovery survey pain points.

ERM SIG

@Martina Schildt

@Martina Schildt

In ERM SIG we have talked about ERM prioritization process and voting in JIRA. Our top 5 priorities will be the highest prioritized features for:

  • 1 x eHoldings

  • 1x eUsage

  • 1x Agreements/Licenses

  • 2 remaining will be features that are highest prioritized over all

Topics in Agreements Local KB subgroup meeting were:

  • Implementers' topic: Customized URLs should be shown in the UI

  • Package deletion: What information should be included in the package deletion log?

In eHoldings subgroup Zorian introduced

  • the scope of UIEH-1419, adding proxy URL link to eHoldings package or title record display

  • and UIEH-1388, incorporating FOLIO Acquisitions cost information in eHoldings Usage CPU calculation.

Implementers SIG

@Thomas Trutt

@Charlotte Whitt

Implementers SIG has had some great sessions since last we reported in:

  • Actual Cost, Billing Strategies, Fees/Fines

  • Linked Data in Migrations (and the SIG) and discovery integration

  • Locate (Discovery Layer) and Discovery SIG

Our upcoming sessions include:

  • Privacy SIG

  • Soft Skills

As well as planning for our WOLFcon sessions.

OF PARTICULAR NOTE: For 2025, Implementers SIG set up a “Programming Board” consisting of three conveners (Tara, Tom, and Darsi). This experiment has gone very well--by meeting every other week and spreading out the work, we’ve been able to keep our calendar full and our notes up to date. Our hope is to recruit 1-2 new members of the programming board by the end of the year so that 1-2 of us can rotate off. Adding fresh voices will help bring new ideas to this vibrant SIG. This is a great opportunity in particular for someone to try out being a convener with a low commitment and a great support network. Please let us know if anyone is interested!

We looked at the version history that has been added to Inventory and MARC Authority records (not MARC holdings) with the Sunflower release. This new functionality received positive feedback from the SIG.

Christine presented the planned work on search improvements in scope of the Trillium release. Some of the highlights are: HRID will be displayed in the result list within a dedicated column, barcode has now been added to the item keyword search, instances that begin with quotation marks can now be retrieved by a search.

We continued the discussion around MARC searching directly in the FOLIO UI. Requirements can be added to this wiki page. We will revisit this topic in future SIG meetings.
