SIG Reports 2025-08-21

Reports should include:

  • Discussion of specific development areas. Including Jira issues for both features and bugs is helpful.

  • Work related to the FOLIO Roadmap or work that occurred that is not well-represented on the FOLIO roadmap.

  • Information about demos, user discussions, or future functionality for FOLIO.

  • Spins-ups or wind-downs of specific subgroups or working groups in a particular area.

  • Ideas or issues that came up feel outside the scope of the SIG but need commenting.

When you click on Submit Request, this will create a new wiki page that will need to be published. To submit a request,

Acquisitions SIG

@Heather McMillan & @Kimberly Pamplin

@Autumn Faulkner

Discussed new Serials Subgroup which will live under Acq SIG. Reviewed changes to Lists App Order - Invoice Analysis which will be present in Trillium. Martina Tumulla demonstrated new Number Generator functionality in Organizations and Receiving. Discussed negative encumbrances (MODINVOICE-608). Joe Reimers collecting use cases for bulk edit of orders and order lines. Reviewed older open implementers topics to see where status could be updated.

New implementers' topics discussed

  • # 181 - Bug with sorting the dates in the Related invoice lines accordion in Order Lines. (UIOR-1458)

  • # 184 - Exporting contacts from Organization search results. Discussed that an Organizations + Contacts entity in Lists App might allow for this.

  • # 185 - With split of “Credited” and “Expended” lines in Finance app, would still be helpful to see a line combining them together.

  • # 186 - Would like option to hide encumbrances with 0 amount in Transactions overview in Finance app.

Data Import SIG

@Christie Thomas , @Jennifer Eustis

@Jennifer Eustis

The Data Import SIG has been working on a new way to track Jira issues and allow the community to add new features. We are now using the labels data-import-sig-needs-review and data-import-sig-reviewed. We have dashboards for both of those. The SIG brings to the meetings all those that need review and adds comments and decisions directly into that Jira issue. The Implementers' Topic Spreadsheet is used for ideas that don’t have a Jira where these will be brought to the meeting and a Jira or Jira issues created. The goal is to track and manage our work in jira.

Discovery SIG

@Nicole Trujillo

Discovery SIG is working our way through old Jiras and deciding on a tag system to help remind us which category (requests, records, etc.) each Jira falls into. We also discussed the UX of requesting of multiple items in discovery interfaces, and are working on an October Linked Data in discovery presentation with the LD4 Discovery Affinity Group.

Documentation Working Group

@Ludwig Liebl

@Martina Tumulla

The Documentation WG thanked Christine Tobias for her commitment and wonderful documentation work, wished her all the best for her retirement and welcomed Lola Estelle as a new writer. She will take over Christine’s documentation areas.
The WG discussed opportunities for collaboration with POs in the writing process.

Implementers SIG

@Thomas Trutt

@Charlotte Whitt

  • Implementers SIG is on Summer Break until September 9th due to low attendance.

  • We continue to prepare our WOLFcon sessions

For 2025, Implementers SIG set up a “Programming Board” consisting of three conveners (Tara, Tom, and Darsi). This experiment has gone very well--by meeting every other week and spreading out the work, we’ve been able to keep our calendar full and our notes up to date. Our hope is to recruit 1-2 new members of the programming board by the end of the year so that 1-2 of us can rotate off. Adding fresh voices will help bring new ideas to this vibrant SIG. This is a great opportunity in particular for someone to try out being a convener with a low commitment and a great support network. Please let us know if anyone is interested!

User Management

@Maura Byrne

@Maura Byrne

  • We had a demo of the number generator for user barcodes.

  • We discussed MODUSERS-539 (Optimistic locking for editing user records). We set it at a low priority for now.

  • We discussed User Acceptance Testing for customizing the Custom Fields accordion, which will begin this week.

  • We discussed a few items on our Gap List, since there seems to be a little room for front-end-only work.

    • Show the number of requests on a user record, but not the requests themselves. – This was considered a good gap to work on.

    • Allow override of of failed renewal to expired users. – This needs to be brought to RA-SIG for consultation.

    • Make more clear what fields are being searched in user search. – We discussed the possibility of an info button on the search, so that we don’t need to add extra verbiage to the screen.

    • UXPROD-5496 (Exclude Patron User Type records from user search) – We shelved this until October, when we could get a better idea of whether other institutions (how many, how large) could be affected. It seems very complicated, touching several apps, and many libraries haven’t yet adopted the Patron User Type.
