Jira and the Community Priorities Dashboard
Description: Community Dashboard selections are made up of FOLIO Jiras. The purpose of this page is to help SIG members work with Jira so their top priorities are surfaced. This intended to be just enough information to get started. More in depth Jira resources are referenced at the bottom.
Getting a Jira Account
Your FOLIO Jira username and password and FOLIO Wiki account are the same. If you do not yet have an account you can sign up here You will first need to sign up for an account here: https://folio-org.atlassian.net/jira. You will need to sign in separately to the FOLIO Jira Project.Searching Jira to find a requested feature
Using Jira’s filtering options, by starting with a large level and working down to more specifics allows SIG members to browse lists of features and tasks that are in the works.Here’s an example of a way to use Jira’s filtering to browse:
Start by select a Space from the list of Jira spaces: https://folio-org.atlassian.net/jira/projects?page=1&sortKey=name&sortOrder=ASC. You can find a space by typing a key word into the Search spaces field. Click on the Space you want to browse.
Filter further by clicking on the Filter button.
Work type and Status are good ways to add more filters. For Work type you may want to select “New Feature”, then for Status select a status that shows features that have not yet been deployed, are not released, or are not closed.
Creating a Jira feature
If you search for a feature and cannot find one you can create your own. The ability to create a feature is available to anyone with a Jira account (check). To create a New Feature:Navigate to he appropriate Jira Space and click on it. If you are not sure of which space your feature request belongs to try looking at the FOLIO Module/JIRA project Team PO Dev Lead responsibility matrix. If it is still unclear, select SUP (Support) and your feature will get routed to the correct space.
Click the Create button located at the top.
In the resulting window called select “New Feature” as the Work type.
Identifying and tagging an Jira as a priority for your SIG
(I slacked a few people to see who has permission to do this as I cannot it seems)
Tag convention: PCPri_{year}_{SIG}_{#}Example tag: PCPri_2025_Acq_PCpri_1
{Note: UXPROD Editors permission is needed to do this - who will be responsible? POs have this permission.}
