Data Import for Linked Data Editor New Functionality Overview by @Alvaro Lopez The TC has approved (2/9/2026): https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/TCR-59

@Alvaro Lopez

Presentation slides: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1S51k2R66qcpsK7bI-rTnCD9fN2fqKUxR/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=105686150222488070986&rtpof=true&sd=true

Linked data import module (mod-linked-data-import)
Needed for a complete workflow for linked data in FOLIO that includes bulk data import; Data import does not currently support RDF files
UXPROD-4600 approved in TCR-59, for Trillium release
Functionality is not in the UI, only for SysAdmins through permissions and API, although Alvaro said they could take that approach/make that change to include this functionality in the UI with proper permissions (like regular Data Import.)

Feedback: Should be part of GUI pared with permissions
Duplicate detection may be an issue
PC will do a vote offline and get back to Alvaro

Related conversation: Seems like we are moving towards isolated solutions to data import. Currently Data Import = MARC Data Import. SRS was supposed to allow for multiple data formats/be format agnostic. Turns out that we need different storages? If that is true, we should say.
What is the long term vision for Data Import? Still so many problems. Are we impeding progress with the original tool?
What are the advantage of a single, general import app vs several specific ones? Maybe not one size fits all. PC will follow up on this topic.

Plan to discuss the future of data import at an upcoming PC meeting @Caitlin Stewart

Discuss Evaluation Process for New FOLIO Functionality

  • How can we push this eval process upstream of development?

  • Proposal for discussion: PC monitors changes to scope of next two releases on a regular basis and requests POs submit new development for evaluation based on that review.

Note: TC is currently investigating a comprehensive review of existing FOLIO features. Does the PC process need to take TC’s processes for evaluating new or existing functionality into account?

Started discussion but will need to finish at a future meeting.
Framing: What we have in place is working well, but something is missing. Effort to refine existing process, move it up, but not add a new one. Hope to encourage engagement prior to development so PC feedback can be addressed before dev starts. What is the correct mechanism for this? POs are self nominating right now. TC process comes later.
Idea: Monitor scope of future releases and ask POs about them early. There are intersections with what RMS group is doing. This could be a standing agenda item for the PC or create a subgroup.
