Welcome & Announcements

WOLFCon 2026 updates @Jennifer Eustis

Location is Prague University of Economics and Business, Aug 31, 2026 - Sep 3, 2026

CFP is going out on Feb 10, 2026

Preconference only in-person, reach out to Thomas Trutt for ideas

New tool for conf planning: pheedloop.com, hopefully better virtual experience, as a lot of virtual attendance is expected

Liaison Updates

@Alexis Manheim @Christie Thomas

CC:

  • CC had first meeting in 2026 on Jan 26, 2026 regrouping, planning topics

  • working on membership, membership groups and outreach; ideas on training as added-value for members; metrics/counting group

  • start planning council elections; ask for volunteers

  • Tom will ask CC to take care of folio.org (is outdated); Jennifer notes that liaison at EBSCO changed

  • Jeremy: CDDF WG plans to have every 4th meeting a cross council meeting; CC planned to look into funding of a CDD dev team => state?

TC: (Christie Thomas)

  • Module review process for existing modules: Pilot with a couple of modules

  • Ideas for having a virtual developer conference ~6 months after Wolfcon

    • still early stage of planning, no dates yet

    • shall address fundamental issues across dev teams

    • Autumn: there may be interest with SME to reach out to devs directly, to get a better connection between librarians and developers => Christie will take back that other stakeholders could be given a certain space to bring in their perspectives

    • Jeremy notes that early Wolfcons/pre-Wolfcon cons were much more technical. Also, Wolfcon provides communication between devs and SMEs

    • Caitlin: PC could eventually do a vitrual summit to tackle certain prioritized items

Introduce idea: Standard roles in PC

@Alexis Manheim

Alexis proposes to establish certain roles within PC and assign members to that roles. They should then take care of certain tasks so that they do not get forgotten, eg. take care of priorities dashboard.

Present the new app PCE-13 Inventory Import

Kirstin Kemner-Heek, Charlotte Whitt, Felix Hemme, and Antje Niemann

PC Endorsement Jira ticket: PCE-13 Inventory Import

  • 3 German library networks (GBV, hebis, SWB) use OCLC CBS union catalog.

  • This is to import catalog data into FOLIO.

  • GBV developed in coop with Index data (Sif team).

  • mod-inventory-update was developed for this purpose (presented before in PC)

  • In production at GBV since 2024

  • Frontend was still missing and is now provided by Harvester admin app

Jeremy:

  • Is this distinct from Data import app? Yes. Also, SRS is not used, data is imported directly into inventory storage.

Kristin:

  • From where does discovery get fed? From union catalog, but some data is also coming from Folio, eg. item state.

  • Active use cases from US libraries? Charlotte: yes, there are discussions

  • Are there ideas about a Folio community zone a la Alma Community zone, ie. shared record source? Kirstin: two aspects: 1: connecting Folio to union catalog-style offers; eg. German network hbz runs an Alma network zone and Folio libs ; 2: building a Folio union catalog; GBV catalogs directly in the union catalog and downloads records to Folio; local cataloguing and uploading to the union catalog is also thinkable. Kirstin points out that it could be an option to develop this into that direction

Jeremy:

  • Will this expand Folio's functionality or is it thought to replace existing functionality like Data Import? Charlotte: Should live side by side, both apps have different focus

Christie:

  • Having multiple ways/options is one of the ideals of FOLIO

  • “Data import” and “inventory import” are very similar names. How to make sure that people can tell the difference?

Alexis:

  • Is it possible to use both DI and inventory import in one Folio instance? Charlotte: DI expects MARC21, German libs use other MARC dialects

Jeremy:

  • What is the user experience going to be? It may be confusing for newcomers to have multiple options. Kirstin: there have been attempts on previous Wolfcons to invite other libs to think about integrating both approaches and GBV is willing to assist on that
