Liaison Updates

@Tod Olson , @Alexis Manheim , @Jennifer Eustis

CC:

  • More follow up on action items from WOLFCon. Where are we at with “Create updated list of FOLIO modules with maintenance status (including orphaned apps)”?

  • Re: Membership Value to inform a membership drive, Development priority influence was the most popular incentive for membership, but there is overlap with DIP and software marketplace, so how this would be possible will need to co-evolve and come to fruition next year.

  • Idea (came out of the DC summit) for line item contributions was an end of calendar year aspiration that has lost some momentum. Will have a better sense by end of the week if this will progress, complicated for EBSCO to consider.

  • Tri-council meeting will be held during the PC time slot on Jan 22nd.

TC:

  • Delay in Trillium and Umbrella Leaf run into Spring Boot support windows, similar to Sunflower. TC inviting RMS to discuss on an upcoming Wednesday.

  • Security Team: FOLIO is NOT affected by the React2Shell exploit

  • Kong Gateway replacement: Kong, Inc. has sunset support for OSS version of Kong. After evaluation of three options, TC accepted a proposal to replace with Apache APISIX.

RMS: Ramsons CSP 8 has just been released (fixes to logs and refresh token). See dashboard

Action Item Review

@Jeremy Huff

@Charlotte Whitt Share a proposal with PC for a calendar calming approach
@Jeremy Huff The consensus is to add the following shortcuts: Decision log, current PC charge, Community Priorities dashboard, Topic calendar, current meeting notes, PC working groups. Jeremy will start and present to the PC in Dec.

Calendar Calming Proposal Update

@Charlotte Whitt

  • FOLIO Community Calendar Calming Planning - https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PC/pages/1466762192

  •  Proposal to schedule the last week of every month for no FOLIO Community meetings. Can plan this in advance for 2026. Many meetings in 2025 being cancelled. More focused meeting can make us more productive. Next Thus will put on agenda to discuss further and decide on next steps. Want to get others to adopt as well, esp. SIGs. Charlotte will send out a message and Jeremy to get it on a future agenda and follow up with the SIGs.

    @Charlotte Whitt send out a message to SIG conveners for feedback on idea of calendar calming
    @Jeremy Huff add Calendar Calming to a future PC agenda

RF ID App Presentation

@Felix Wichmann (BVB)

Created an RFID Connect app to make FOLIO more RFID friendly. Not in the flower release. Presentation:

  • App initializes tags and checks-in and out. (SIP2 handles self checkout and gates are separate tech.)

  • Connects through web port/service, network, different communication options

  • Pads connected via USB

  • Wanted to be able to work with RFID from within the FOLIO UI, support different hardware/vendors solutions

  • Demo: Main options are Circulation and Tag Editing

    • Circ: Looks like check out/in apps, similar functionality

    • Tag editing: enter barcode, press write tag(s), and new tag info is previewed

Getting into main FOLIO product was too complex, but would be great to have this happen in the future.

@Jeremy Huff Initiate PC discussion on how to surface tools that can be integrated with FOLIO but aren’t in the flower release?
