Printing in FOLIO, quick follow-up

@Felix Hemme

Khalilah has created UIIN-3294: Inventory app: Keyboard shortcuts modal: Add a print results list and record shortcut key to modal.Open and UIMARCAUTH-473: MARC authority app: Keyboard shortcuts modal: Add a print results list and record shortcut key to modal.Open after the meeting March 13th.

This is mainly about adding the shortcut to the shortcuts modal in both apps, not about new functionality.

Definition of reporting in FOLIO

@Jennifer Eustis

What is FOLIO Reporting?

  • This page has been created by the Reporting SIG. They also might come to MM in a future meeting.

  • There are external services that aggregate data and create reports, API-based solutions to create reports, and in-app reports.

  • Potential definitions of reporting:

    • Based around operational processes (cleanup stuff); therefore we want to extract data in a CSV based format to end up with a list of records.

    • Have the ability to select what fields of a record should be included in the report.

    • Ability to combine search elements across record types, and export them (instances, holdings, items, and MARC).

    • Potentially include data from other apps that has a connection to Inventory data. The reports are not mainly about the data, but the data and its connection to other apps. Filter records in one app based on data from another app. Examples:

      • Give me holdings with a POL connection where the source record has subject XXX and the POL has fund YYY.

      • Print vs Electronic overlap for retention analysis.

  • Reasons for reporting:

    • Quality control.

    • Collection analysis.

    • Multiple other reasons where someone asks a question we have to answer based on our data.

  • Reporting should be baseline functionality for an LSP. The PC will be writing a vision for FOLIO as a product and this could be included.

  • The Lists app is focussing on elements that are identical across FOLIO. Fields that have a custom vocabulary are not that easily to add to the Lists app.

  • In the Orders app a user can export a list of records and select fields that should be included in the CSV.

⏭️Homework: Add you reporting needs to this spreadsheet until April 24th, 2025. Please note the different sheets at the bottom.

Product Council updates

Charlotte Whitt

2025-03-27 Product Council Agenda & Meeting Notes

Announcements: FOLIO Governance document is up for voting.

Eureka early adopters and Permissions updates: TAMU has had some recent success. Made a milestone, but still more work to be done. There has been discussion among the early adopters: We want an environment which can run in production, and in a repeatable way. Now aiming towards 4/1/2025. GBV is a little ahead of TAMU and then Index Data.

Report on DC Summit: Community Council meet in person in DC last week. Membership is not growing. AWS costs are growing. EBSCO is to reduce on the development resources from now to July 2025. Three working groups are established. The PC would like to have liaisons on these working groups/committees. One of the key areas is: A mature and sustainable FOLIO (product vision). One of the proposals are to hire full time staff by the community. Important to make sure development of functionality is maintained long term. Alexis mentioned that it is a task for the PC to look at the vision for FOLIO as a product. At WOLFcon the community should be included in the conversations happening in the three working groups.

WOLFCon session planning: Brain storm on topics. Deadline is 4/25/2025. One topic suggested was a community owned development environment - a shared ‘rancher’ environment. Definition of community development, and also make more awareness on development happening around the ‘real’ FOLIO apps and module (integration development).

Another topic is the product vision, and then align it with the PC’s charter. What is the reality the PC charter exist in.
