Product Council Update

• MARCCat was discussed. The executive team will discuss status and priorities and will provide an update back to the PC

• Index Data and at Cult met to talk about MARCCat. MARCCat is available in FOLIO snapshot stable. Connection to source record still needs to be made.

• Timeline is not secure with MARCCat at the moment. More analysis is needed. Maybe not Summer 2020, maybe more like the end of 2020. Will know more after analysis.

• Simple MARC editor discussion. Even with MARCCat functionality this will be built. The development does not take resources from other development areas.

• Chalmers did Edelweiss upgrade. Items and holdings display has improved. Lisa reported that there is a FOLIO day coming up in Sweden.

• SIG conveners gave updates.

• There was positive feedback about the FOLIO Forum on reporting. 

• Resource management will be talking about receiving electronic and print packages. Those interested in containers may want to attend the RM meeting.

Subgroup & other updates?

• Reporting Group: Prototypes and queries will be written for Metadata Management 

• Data export: Working group is continuing to work on exporting records from SRS. On-boarding additional developers. Not meeting today.

• "Lightweight MARC Editing tool" - Group met one hour ago. Trying to move quickly. Looking at text editor options. Scope - create new record, small edits. Meeting again next week. Will narrow things down from there.

Brief update.

• Working with Index Data to have an MPV version of MARCCat.

• Search Function:

  • Many Indices available. 

  • Search / Browse - Example: Browsing "Rowling" returns records with Rowling associations. Must click into record to see why record turned up in result.

  • Title / Begins with

  • Filtering results is available

• Action button

  • Shows search history

  • Open

    

• New Record Creation

  • Subfields are suggested for fields. 

  • Invalid MARC is not yet displayed.

  • $a is assumed after delimiter is entered.

• Management of fixed field. If LDR is changed, other fields will adjust and change to appropriate options.

• Questions:

  • Are changes going to FOLIO Snapshot? - Daily changes are made to snapshot with updates.

  • Suggestion: Consistency use "Field" instead of "Tag" when referring to MARC fields. 

  • Creation of a template - JIRA says these are complete. Where are the settings to create a template? Answer: This is not finished actually. JIRA was closed then reopened and split to become two different JIRAs. 

• Discussion with Index Data and MARCCat. At Cult asked help from Index Data for development support. What was thought important for MVP go-live?

  • The main role of Index Data in this context is to help integrate MARCCat into FOLIO.

  • Tiziana will share the spreadsheet.
