Plan phase 3 of “Set for deletion” | @Jennifer Eustis @Ryan Taylor | Jennifer went over the questions related to the next phase of set for deletion functionality. Highlights from the discussion: Un-delete/Make record active- add this option to the Action Menu. To maintain symmetry, this would change the LDR from d to c, remove set for deletion flag and remove set for deletion and staff suppress flags. It was decided that there does not need to be a set for deletion flag for holdings or items. Boundwiths- there needs to be a notification/modal/pop-up to notify user that there is a boundwith. This would not stop the “set for deletion” from happening, but would act as a warning. There needs to be a specific filter for marked for deletion records, since not all suppressed records are also marked for deletion. Records that have been marked for deletion should be editable in Inventory and Bulk Edit. Editing should not automatically un-delete records (however, it should be possible to un-delete/make active records in Bulk Edit). The fact that an Instance record is set for deletion should be pushed out to other Apps, either as a warning or stopping an action completely (which option depends on the action/App in question) There should be a permission for being able to interact with records marked for deletion (similar to Staff Suppress)

2026-04-02 10:39:34 From Laura Daniels to Everyone:
There is no indication in quickMARC of the record status. (Just checked in our Test environment which is Sunflower CSP 5)

Just the LDR Status d
2026-04-02 10:40:21 From Vivian Gould (she/her) to Everyone:
If a deleted record is acted upon via Data Import or Bulk Edit, does that reverse the deleted status?
2026-04-02 10:41:45 From Sara Colglazier (MHC/5C) to Everyone:
If we can have things as True for Staff Suppressed and True for Suppress from Discovery BUT NOT Deleted, then we also need a Filter for Deleted, otherwise we will not be able to distinguish them from the ones just Suppressed
Vivian Gould (she/her), Jeanette Kalchik, Ryan Tamares - Stanford Law Library, Lisa Lorenzo (Mich. State University), Jennifer Eustis:💯

Only if the LDR/05 is changed. It will reverse the deleted status but not remove other suppression.

Replying to "If a deleted record is acted upon via Data Import ...":
Following up on this: Food for Thought: what about if a set for Deleted record is subsequently connected via the Look Up Modal from Orders, for example .... will there be some sort of alert or something?

2026-04-02 10:50:40 From Laura Daniels to Everyone:
there is definitely desire/need for actual (hard) deletion of instances
Lynne Fors:➕

I agree! UNDO should UnDO and then I can suppress however I need to as a second step as a 2nd step.
2026-04-02 11:02:30 From Raegan Wiechert to Everyone:
My point was not to just have one choice, I just make sure that if you wanted to delete all three at the same time, you could do so without a lot of bother and extra steps.
Sara Colglazier (MHC/5C):✔️

that's a good example of why deletion of instance with attached item(s) is dangerous
Vivian Gould (she/her), Jennifer Eustis:💯
2026-04-02 11:07:48 From Lynne Fors to Everyone:
We could even have two copies of a title and only one of them is a boundwith

Replying to "We could even have two copies of a title and only ...":
that is frequently the case
2026-04-02 11:13:48 From Charlie Kambashi to Everyone:
permission based makes sense, we have staff in public services who can see call number browse of subject heading browse for records that are marked for deletion. They're unable to see that the item is marked for deletion unless they select that record from the browse option. if by permission, (can't view "staff suppress", should also be other apps it affects
2026-04-02 11:16:44 From Jeanette Kalchik to Everyone:
Also will there be any blocks on hard delete, like order, bills, etc?
Ryan Tamares - Stanford Law Library:🤔

💯to Raegan’s point
2026-04-02 11:17:18 From Laura Daniels to Everyone:
As far as I can tell, staff suppression was only developed for instances because no one ever asked for it for other record types
Jennifer Eustis:👍🏻
