Meeting cycle

@Raegan Wiechert , @Felix Hemme

Discussion regarding changing the meeting cycle from weekly to biweekly at the beginning of 2026

  • Felix mentioned that this came up because we had to cancel some meetings in the past few months.

  • Charlotte provided a link to the Product Council’s proposal that discusses the scheduling of SIG, working group, and council meetings. This proposal suggests having one week every month where the FOLIO community does not have any meetings. The last week of the month is recommended because it aligns with most major holidays. The Product Council will reach out to the SIGs regarding this proposal.

  • Felix mentioned that biweekly meetings work for January and February next year, but not March because there will be three weeks without a meeting. In this case, Charlotte recommended having two meetings in a row.

  • Laura suggested a Slack poll for members to vote on their preferences. Felix will create and post this poll in Slack.

Plan how we can prepare the MM community features so that they can be transitioned to open status.

The MM SIG discussed the next steps for the top five community priorities.

  • Felix suggested creating volunteer-based small working groups to modify the Jiras so they are in a state to be picked up by product owners. No MM SIG member disagreed with this approach. Felix created a table below where members can add their names.

  • Raegan asked what steps are needed to move a Jira from draft status to open. Charlotte explained that a UXPROD ticket remains in draft until there are Jira stories added. Lynn asked if the PO typically adds the stories. Charlotte confirmed that this is the case. Raegan said that she would reach out to Christine and Ryan regarding whether it would be beneficial for the SIG to add Jira stories.

  • Felix recommended that the working groups could look for potential duplicates.

  • Felix mentioned that because we no longer have a community funded development teamthere is a question regarding which development team could work on these Jiras. Charlotte recommended presenting these features to Ryan and other POs for the inventory module.

Please add yourself to this table if you are available to further define our features/stories:

Fewer meetings would also help with scheduling other meetings (since there are very few time slots that are reasonable across time zones)

I'm interested in working on leading/trailing spaces. I've done some of the work on those already and it's a priority for my institution.

+1 to Raegan. Why weren't these shifted to open status?

2025-12-11 10:50:40 From Lynne Fors to Everyone:
Is that something we do or the PO/dev?
