Recap of WOLFcon working meeting 2025

Notes from the meeting: https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/MM/pages/1223033766 – Recap for those who could not attend. Felix is halfway through the recording and will update this document as needed.

Here is the Youtube link to the video of our working meeting. The technical issues at the start have been edited out.

Felix shared some meeting highlights:

The focus now is collecting use cases. Here is a new wiki page for adding use cases for searching and viewing holdings and items: https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/x/AYB8Sg. Adding your use cases will help us understand librarians' needs and improve usability. Felix suggested adding use cases even if they exist in Jira.

After the Working Group meeting, Raegan and Felix contacted Christine and Ryan. Christine is working on facet dependency in the ECS environment.

Any development that we propose will probably not be selected until after Umbrellaleaf.

Raegan reminded everyone that whatever we come up has to pass Technical Council. Therefore, we may not be able to get everything we want due to technical or development issues.

Felix suggested that we do not continue this conversation for this meeting, so people have time to catch up and provide use cases.

Discussion

Sara: That would be so helpful: to be able to tie the Item search to its Location etc. This is a huge problem in the 5C! If you do a search for item status, you can’t make it specific to your location.

Felix: I am not sure that this is what they are currently working on. It seems to be just related to those who are on an ECS FOLIO environment.

Sara: This would be also be helpful for the broader community, such as tenants with multiple library branches.

Raegan: Christine mentioned that once the work for the ECS environment is completed, the work can be copied on to non-ECS environments.

Sara: Q: Is there a separate page for viewing use cases?

Felix: A: Both viewing and searching use cases should be entered on this page: https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/x/AYB8Sg

Sara: Q: At WOLFcon, was there discussion around whether it will built into how FOLIO works with upgrades? With Ramsons, we now have publication date, but we are not seeing records that do not have that data.

A: Laura mentioned that there is a MARC Migration tool that needs to be run https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPITFIRE/pages/492142594 Charlotte said the hosting provided should be contacted. Laura mentioned that their hosting provider ran it for them, but they had to bring it to their attention.

Natascha: Q: Can any of these issue be resolved with the Lists app?

A: Raegan mentioned that it is not as robust as Create Lists in Sierra, and it is not as robust as they need it to be. There are some more developments in the Sunflower release. Sara said it depends on what type of records you would like to search for, and it is not the same as searching in the UI. Raegan mentioned there are issues for searching for date in a free text field.
