Working meeting session at WOLFcon 2025 continued |
| Meeting: Thursday, September 25, 9:30 CT (10:30 ET), Liberty Room (in-person), Zoom link in Sched for virtual attendees Katie, Natascha, and Vivian will arrive in the room a couple minutes early to get things started. In order for the meeting to be recorded, you have to log in to the laptop on-site. Once logged into Zoom, Felix and Raegan can take over. The in-person attendees just need to log on and log off the meeting. Regular MM SIG meeting for the 25th is cancelled. Next MM SIG meeting will be in two weeks. The topic will probably be a report from WOLFcon and a discussion regarding ideas for next steps. Outcome of the last meeting:
Raegan: Because the MM SIG session, its only 50 minutes, we want to make sure we have a good focus or target discussion.
Discussion Christie expressed concern about focusing on a result list for holdings or items because the search is actually an instance search even on the holdings or items tab. The search is just using item or holdings data, but it is still returning instances. We can’t address the UI for holdings and items without addressing what we would need out of search functionality for holdings and items. Felix added that if you are searching or filtering for some item property, you get a list of instances. The count is also be for the number of instances. Christie further explained that if you are searching with an item with a particular effective location, you will get all the instances that have an item that meets that criteria with all their holdings and items. Users have to go hunting for the actual item they are looking for. Raegan: Are we wanting to discuss what we would like changed based on what we can do now? Or are we wanting to discuss what we would like to see that would also include maybe changing some searching in the future? Jennifer: There are other groups, such as resource access and users, that use inventory. We should understand what issues these different groups encounter when searching in the Inventory app by reaching out to them. Raegan: This brings up the topic of different views in FOLIO like there are in Sierra, such as the circulation view, cataloging view or acquisitions view, but that may be a little too scoped for this meeting. Felix and Raegan will chat on Slack to help refine our scope more. Lynn mentioned in chat the issue of multiple clicks to find what you need. Raegan has talked to other people at her library and the amount of clicking is a problem for everyone, not just with regards to metadata management.

Product Council updates | Jennifer Eustis | https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PC/pages/1222737951 Change in SIG reporting:
Then the PC discussed the Community Directed Development Framework. There will two sessions at WOLFcon that discuss this. |
BELA (Bulk Edit and Lists App) | Jennifer Eustis | https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BULKEDIT/pages/1185480705 . We discussed how to handle updating item statuses that have some association to business logic. Is it worth allowing institutions to set up the ability to update a status and override the business logic or should it be restricted like it is now? Is there a middle way? If you interested in item statuses, you are encouraged to attend these meetings. |
Data Import SIG | Jennifer Eustis | No meeting. The convenors are working on a process on how to engage with Data Import and Data Import development. More will be shared on October 1st. |
